-*s&mfx.**,'. \/\ Cftrole Humann 885-160# pwval Of Ordinance Affects Future wer Plans Foi* Park On Tuesday, Dec. 10, all registered voters living in the City df McHenry are asked to go-to tjfte polls and cast their vote in a Cpferendum to approve a general obligation bond ordinance tor expansion of the present sewer plant. The cost of the proposed $675,000 bond would be shared by all residents of the city of McHenry. The plant which is located on Waukegan road is adequate for the present sewer system but is quickly nearing capacity. | Lakeland Park and Lakeland Shores are particularly affecteel by the outcome of this vote because without an expanded sewer plant we can't even begin to think of sewers for our community. The expanded sewer plant is the first step in the right direction for sewers in our sewer plant bond issue only - it lias nothing to do with sewers for the Park and Shores. That is a separate issue entirely and will be dealt with as the next step, completely separated from flie present issue. It is absolutely necessary that this issue be approved though, before we can even begin to think in positive terms about sewers. AH registered voters may vote in this election. If you have not registered in this precinct you may do so at the office of the You can't, of course. But maybe the thought does seem tempting sometimes. All those experts to listen to. Alf the confusion of keeping tabs on the kinds--and amounts--of coverage you need. Residency requirements for eligibility are that the person (21 years of age or more) be a ^ resident of the State of Illinois for one year, of the County of McHenry for 90 days and of the ward for 30 days. The entire Lakeland Park section and that part pf Lakeland Shores which is on the northside of Route 120 belongs to Ward 4 and the polling place is the Lakeland Park Community house. Unit 3 of Lakeland Shores which is that part of Lakeland Shores on the south side of the highway belongs to Ward 2 and votes at Buss Ford Sales, 3921 W. Waukegan street which is Route 120. To repeat again, and it can't be said too many times, without the passage of this bond ordinance to expand the pre sent sewer plant our chances of getting sewers in Lakeland Park and Lakeland Shores are dead. The price will never get better and the need for sewers will never get less. Please get out on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and vote at the proper polling place. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and absentee ballots are available through Earl Walsh. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 We opened our meeting with the flag ceremony given by patrol 4. We then went into patrols and collected dues and then studied our parts for investiture which will be held on Dec. 4. Parents are invited and refreshments will be served. The ceremony will take place during the regular hours of the. meeting. The troop has volunteered to help a couple with errands and things like that each week. Treats were served by patrol 3. They served cookies, candy and brownies with kool-aid (that sure was filling). We decided on our Christmas gifts for our Moms and then ended the meeting with the flag ceremony and taps. Respectfully submitted, Mary Beth Humann, assistant troop scribe. BROWNIE TROOP 464 The Brownies are working on their mothers' Christmas gifts and are learning some new things while doing it. The hostess for the meeting was Mary Schooley. A committee meeting was planned for this week, and the leaders and some of the mothers attended the neighborhood meeting last week. CUB SCOUT PACK 459 The next pack meeting which Snow Tires will also l?e the Christmas party is planned for Monday evening, Dec. 16 at 7:30. This will be the final meeting for the pack as it is disbanding through lack of adult leadership. At the moment two men and three women are still active, butacubmaster is needed as well as a Webelos leader and these five people can no longer do all the necessary things needed to keep a pack healthy. The boys are there, but the parents aren't so out of necessity the pack "is officially disbanded as of Dec. 16. If through some miracle enough interested adults come forward before that time the pack will be able to continue. At the last pack meeting Bobcat awards were given to Allan Stokes, Steve Brunow and Steve Barker. Robert Schooley ? earned the Citizen and Scientist Webelos awards and moves up to the Boy Scout troop. Each den made favors which were given to the people at the Villa Rest home to brighten their Thanksgiving. The dens will have their meeting s right up until the end, and it is really a shame that it is necessary to end such a wholesome activity, which is much needed for these boys.
