PLAINDEALER PHOTOS Lisle Bassetts n Star ead Chapter Vivian Bassett as worthy matron and Lisle Bassett as worthy patron were installed in office for McHenry Chapter,No. 547, Order of the Eastern Star, in an impressive ceremony held at the Masonic Temple last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett assume the positions filled last year by Mary Ellen and Thomas P. Russell. Pearl Pearson of Nunda chapter, a grand lecturer emeritus of Illinois, acted as installing officer. Other officers who officiated were Harriet Dodd, a past matron of McHenry chapter and grand lecturer, as chaplain; Mildred G. Greener of Nunda, a grand lecturer of Illinois, marshal; Gwendelyn Hill of Sorosis chapter, grand lecturer; organist; and Debbie Russell, member of McHenry chapter, soloist. Escorts were Burton French of McHenry, a member of the Rockford Activities committee of the state; 'Michael Wachna and David Christie, both members of McHenry chapter. Kenneth Schopp was color bearer and Steve French gave the ode to the flag. Lisa Ruth Bassett and Ann French were candle lighters and Daisy Jones of McHenry chapter acted as mistress of ceremonies. Installed to serve with the Bassetts for 1969 are the following: Jacqueline French, associate matron; Robert French, associate patron; Edith Dowell secretary; Harriet Dodd, treasurer; Joyce Schultz, conductress; Debbie Russell, associate conductress; Mary Ellen Russell, chaplain; Leitha Glorch, marshal; and Joan Brosky, organist. Also, Frances Vycital, Adah; Patricia McCarroll, Ruth; Brenda Mueller, Esther; Wilma Christie, Martha; Dorothy Weichmann, Electa; Duane Overton, warder; Walter Mueller, sentinel; Thomas Russell, color bearer; and Mildred G. Greener, instructress. To conclude the installation ceremony, Daisy Jones and Duane Overton presented their jewels to Mr. and Mrs. Russell. A social hour followed the installation. NAIM Chapter Planning Party The annual Christmas party of St. Margaret's chapter of NAIM will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. in the homeof Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Alberts in Algonquin. There will be no gift exchange because the chapter donated a money purse to St. Charles Home for Boys to buy small gifts. School association last week. Phillip J, Schmidt of the UJS. Marine corps, with the Fort Shatter Catholic chaplain. Rev. Melvin V. Haggin, officiating. Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs* Walter M. Smith of 3515 N. Riverside drive, McHenry, and Mr. Schmidt who resided at 5320 W. Highland, McHenry, is the son of the. late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmidt. The pretty bride and her bridegroom were attired in the traditional Hawaiian attire, with the bride wearing a white carnation lei and the groom an orchid lei which were exchanged during the ceremony. , Miss Smith was attended by her cousin, Karen Huemann of Johnsburg, who also wore an Hawaiian dress and orchid lei. Sgt. Patrick Daly of Chicago, now stationed in Hawaii, served as best man. A reception in their home community was postponed until a later date, when the bridegroom is discharged. Following a one-week wedding trip in Hawaii during his rest and relaxation from Vietnam service, the bride will return to reside with her parents until Cpl. Schmidt returns stateside. She is employed in McHenry. The groom is on his second tour of duty in Vietnam, for which he volun* teered. Both young people are graduates of McHenry high school with the class of 1963. He attended Whitewater college, Wis. until his enlistment in the Marine corps. He will continue his education following discharge from service. THE HOLIDAY The holiday season itefait approaching.
