Tuesday they traveled to Kankakee and battled their junior college on even terms for 35 minutes only to have the roof cave in during the last 5 as they lost 92 to 75. Thursday night it was a trip to Fort Sheridan where they chalked up a win over a varsity improved army 5, 72 to 64. Friday night the Scots ran out of gas as they battled a good DePaul freshman squad only to go down to defeat 76 to 52. The Scots now have a 2 week rest before they resume action in the basketball wars. Harold O. Swank, director of the Illinois Department of Public Aid, said an increase of 3,315 brought the number of persons on the rolls-to 503,576 in October, compared to 500,261 in September. The current caseload is 47,340 above the October 1967 total of 456,236 persons. The October, 1968, caseload included 380,280 persons on Assistance to the Aged, Blind or Disabled and Aid to Dependent Children receiving assistance and eligible for medical care, 55,698 eligible for Medical Assistance only and 67,596 on General Assistance. In September, 376,608 persons were receiving assistance and eligible for medical care, 55,186 were eligible for Medical Assistance only and 68,467 were on General Assistance. During October of last year 339, lSl^per sons were receiving assistance and eligible for medical services, 51,786 were eligible for Medical Assistnce only and 65,269 were on General Assistance. / Expenditures for October 1968 were $46,305,082, compared to $40,576,808 for September and $38,407,535 for October 1967. Current expenditures include $10,627,132--almost entirely for Old Age Assistance payments to the Department of Mental Health for persons age 65 and over eligible for public aid and residing in state hospitals. This expenditure is higher than usual as it contains payments totaling $8,579,271 to reflect an increase in per diem rates for aged mental patients made retroactive to September 1966. Also included is $536,257 in payments for Foster Care- ADC-Poster._ -Car e - Other* Aid to the Medically Indigent in Chicago and Cicero, and Burials. In the Medical Assistance only program, the October payments weret..$ll,960,679, compared to $7,195,441 for September. The 55,698 persons eligible for Medical Assistance only are included in the totals for Assistance to the Aged, Blind or Disabled and Aid to Dependent Children. The caseload for McHenry county was as follows: Total, all programs, 862, $62,822; old age assistance, 198, $24,834; aid to depepdeqt children, 441, $19,678; blind assistance, 3, Q. Nickel has a way of darkening if not cleaned frequently. Q. What is a good way to clean or wash clear-plastic water glasses? A. Wash them in hot water in which cream of tartar has been, dissolved.
