There will also be free time, indoor games, good meals, intra-tribal games and much fun. The other campout will be in the summer and will probably be a tent and camper affair. A father and daughter banquet will be held in the spring. These along with the home centered tribal meetings and individual family activities provide a closer companionship for father and daughter. Information about the Princess program can be secured from the YMCA, 95 Grant street, Crystal Lake. Various experiments show that the speed of the fastest messages carried by the human nervous system is 265 miles per hour. For the past two years, some of the Edgebrook teachers have been embarked on a pilot program with funds from the state to identify the academically and creatively gifted children in Edgebrook "school These children are being given opportunities to do independent study in some interest area of their own choosing. The children make contracts with their teachers to do this independent study Completed contracts are evaluated by the student and any other persons he chooses These children are released from class to work on their projects. The teachers act as resource persons. Early in the fall of 1971, the fourth grade teachers of Edgebrook made a talent survey among the parents of the children in their classes Several of the parents indicated they had skills and talents they were willing to share with students. One of the mothers, Mrs. Jane Weiss, is an art teacher on a half-time basis in a neighboring school. She was contacted and graciously consented to teach a class in clay sculpturing As a result, a group of some twenty students from the third, fourth and fifth grades are spending from 4 to 5 hours a week with Mrs. Weiss, happily carving and shaping masses of clay into creations of their own designing. The Edgebrook teachers and students sin cerely hope that Mrs. Wiess is just the first of many talented people in the community who will share and help to enrich the total school program Local Students On Dean's List At MacMurray Miss Carol Jean Schuh of McHenry and Judith Ann Strorigl Sherk, 111 S.
