PAGE M-PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 197? the anniversary waltz, March Lakeland Park 385-6517 DOROTHY LENSE Beverly Derby Elected Girl Scout Treasurer The girls of Troop 320 have been very busy After getting the meeting off to a good start at the usual time on Wed­ nesday, an election was held for a new treasurer Beverly Derby was elected to serve in that position The scouts have been working very hard on their badges The sewing and needlework group finished the stuffed animals that they were making These toys were presented to the pediatric ward at McHenry hospital The girls in the cooking group wrapped up their badges by preparing and serving treats to the troop at the meeting The cookies, cakes and brownies were enjoyed, while the girls in this group explained the steps they took to earn the cooking badge The group working on the health badge put on a skit about "Good Health and Safety". The Girl Scout Cooky sales will start March 3 Many people look forward to buying and eating Girl Scout cookies each year It is a good way to help support the Girl Scouts. Just a reminder, all girls must have their permission slips in to Mrs. Doris Schabow by March 3 or they will not be able to sell cookies Troop 320 will be enjoying themselves roller skating, Friday, Feb. 25. The girls will meet at the roller rink in McHenry at 10 a m for two hours of roller skating Also, the Scouts would like to have the mothers give them support and help working on their badges. LAKELAND PARK WOMEN'S CLUB MEETING The Lakeland Park Women's club will meet at the com munity house, Thursday, March 2. The time for the meeting is 12:30 p.m. Plans will be finalized for the dinner and play at the McHenry Country club The club will see the play "Marriage Go Round" on Friday, March 10 Anyone planning to attend this event is asked to hand in their money and make their reservation at the meeting, Thursday. The Coffins have first place in their pockets with 31^ wins and 161 "2 losses The second place position went to the Up- Yours with 284 to 194 The Do Nothings are in third place with 27 to 21 In there with fourth place are the Bloomers who have 26 wins and 22 losses The Lucky Sevens are in fifth place with 254 to 224- The sixth place is held by the Partners with 24 to 24 The Ball of Con­ fusions have seventh place all sewed up with 23-25. The Grumpy Bottoms are in eighth place with 23-25 In ninth place are the Exhibitioners with 21 wins and 26% losses. The stand Ins are in tenth place with 214- 264 The Tops grabbed 11th place with 29-29. And last but not least the Weigh Outs are in 12th place with 17 wins and 31 losses For the men Roy Appel still has the high game scratch with 243 Rich Mercure has the high series scratch with 618 And, Stan Slonina has the high series handicap with 633. Karen Crook has the high game scratch for the women with 203. Juanita Grant had the high series scratch with 561 and Terry Orroyo has the high series scratch with 607. Don't forget to join in the fun Saturday, Feb. 26. CUB SCOUT PACK 351 NEWS The roller skating party which was sponsored by Pack 351 was a big success. There will be the annual Blue and Gold Dinner Feb. 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The dinner will be held at St. Patrick's church hall. CAKES ANDCANDLES Gary Hansen and Linda Marie Walinski start out the birthday week on Feb. 25. Linda will be celebrating six happy years. Feb. 26 is a red letter day for Larry Wood. Chuck Jumper, Connie Parisi and Craig Schaedel share Feb. 27 as their special day. Joseph Sullivan celebrates on Feb 28 Ruth Roach has a leap year birthday on Feb. 29. This will be their thirty-first anniversary SERVICE MAN COMPLETES TRAINING Tom and Rose Wagner were home for the weekend. Tom brought with him some good news. He has completed his training course from the Air Force Academy (CDC). He has attained the title of a skilled specialist and is now in training for the title of a technician in the personnel career field. He is stationed at Grissom Air Force Base in Peru. Ind. Tom and Rose make their home in Peru. Rose is the former Rose Delilio. GET-WELL WISHES There have been reports that a lot of Lakeland Parkers are under the weather. The Serritella kids were smitten last week with the latest bug going around. Thursday - March 2 - 9 a.m. - 12 Noon - Booked, Women's Club - 12:30 p.m. and the regular LPPOA board meeting - 8 p.m. College Symphony Begins Rehearsals For March Concert The McHenry County college symphony orchestra will begin practice for the Brahms Requiem, Opus 45, in the band room of Central grade school, Crystal Lake, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. Mrs. Russell T. (Peg) Griffith, MCC music director, says that these practice sessions will run every Saturday until the concert Sunday, March 26. Orchestra members will have to enter Central school through the back door, because all other doors will be locked. The 51-piece MCC symphony will be featured with the MCC chorus of over eighty members, in their performance, in English, of the Brahms Requiem.
