Food Specials can save money Some people seem to think that "specials" or "features" offered in food stores each week are foods that are old or of inferior quality This is not true Specials and features are foods equal in quality to the usual mer chandise, but priced near cost to hold old customers and attract new ones into the store The hope of the retailer is that you will make other purchases when you come into the store to take advantage of the features. Several studies carried out by private universities have shown that if you will devote an extra 30 minutes a week to studying food ads and noting specials that could fit into your meal plans, you could cut food costs by six to fifteen percent It could be a good way to get more for your food dollar this year, and every year Marian Fathers Club Constructs New Photo Lab Marian Central Catholic high school's Fathers' club recently completed construction of a photography laboratory in the school's art room. The con struction was led by 1971-72 Fathers' club president, Joe Beiers, and the 1970*71 president, Joe Jackson They were assisted in their efforts by A1 Ideler. John Dwyer, and other members of the club The lab. which is 10 feet by 15 feet, is in need of equipment, but it presently contains an enlarger and a sink The sink and the lumber were given by the Fathers' club and Beiers did all the plumbing for the lab. Marian Central's Photo club has been using the lab for the past two months, and develops pictures that are used for news releases, school business, in the yearbook and school newspaper The picture ac companying this article is one that has been developed by the Photo Club The moderator of the Photo club is Victor Meuch, and president this year is Steven Doherty Other active mem bers are Mary Catherine Garrett, Eileen Hunter and David Bolger The Photo club meets once a week during the school's activity period and is one of the twenty-two clubs and activities sponsored by Marian. The club was an appreciative recipient of a donation of paper and is in great need of cameras with adjustable lenses With regard to academic curriculum, the Photo club is also a unit study of the Art 111 program The students in the club do most of their own funding, as they do not have a budget for supplies and equipment.
