Jonathan's mother is the former Sandy Wright. MOURN DEATH OF FRIEND We were saddened to hear of the death of Art Hay, a familiar face in Wonder Lake for many years. Some eighteen years ago when this reporter first came to work here in Wonder^Lake, Art was one of the first people we met. His smiling face at his window in the post office projected the friendliness of the people in Wonder Lake. He always found some little thing to tease us about and we felt good knowing he was our friend. Our condolences to his widow, Millie, and his daughter, Jean Weber, and her family. MUSIC PROGRAM The music department of Harrison school in Wonder Lake presented the program for the regular meeting of the PT A on Tuesday, April 11. The concert band, under the direction of Richard Mikus played: "Burnished Brass", "Cherish", "Variations on a Theme by Prokofieff", "Alleluia from 'Exultate, Jubilate' Motet", "March of the Blazerteers", "Highlights from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", and their final number was "Sounds of Sousa". Miss Jamie Dierking, niece of Mr. Mikus, sat in with the band on thier rendition of "Highlights from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Richard Mikus also presented to John Kranz his certificate from the all star stage band, which was awarded to him in February. The concert choir sang several numbers, including, "Alleluia" - "Thirty-Third Psalm", "Ma Petite Can- dienne", "Joy is like the Rain", which featured Miss Donna DeWerdt as soloist, "I Don't Know How to Love Him", "Raindrops", and their final number was "Kum Ba Yah", which featured three soloists: Kathy Ahern, Linda Kasting, and Margaret Ruggero. Wendy Gildemeister and Eileen Ahern were the piano accompanists for the choir. Former College Student Displays Art April 18-30 t Paul Jimenez, formerly an. artstudentat McHenry County college, has some of his work on display at the Pan-American Art show, Chicago Museum of Science & Industry, April 18-30. According to Joseph Rybacek of the MCC Art department, 19- year-old Paul is the youngest artist represented in the show. "Paul, who has studied pain­ ting and design here, has been a student of mine for the past two years and he still maintains close ties with the Art depart­ ment". Although originally from Cuba, Paul and his family came to live in Crystal Lake in 1960. Paul says, "This was due to the Castro takeover." He has studied art at Crystal Lake high school and MCC. While in Spain last summer, Paul designed a poster, which has been reproduced in 9-color lithography by a Spanish company. This poster is now being sold in the United States. Rybacek says, "Paul's in­ tricate use of color and form provide an exciting challenge for both the eye and the mind". He plans to make art his life's work and is just beginning his career."
