PLAINDEALER PHOTOS Formal Fund Raising At End For Rescue Squad The formal fund raising campaign for the McHenry Area Rescue Squad was completed recently, with the sauad receiving a total of $18,672. The money was raised within the community in many ways, including a dance sponsored by a group of local businessmen, basketball game sponsored by the firemen of Company I and direct mail fund raising campaigns. The fund raising committee, consisting of representatives of the Jaycees, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and the Rescue squad, have been most appreciative of the cooperation which has made the Rescue squad a reality. A large portion of the funds have been spent to purchase the two vehicles, group alerting system, safety and rescue equipment and other necessary tools and machinery. Since the squad went into service in January, members have responded to over sixty calls. The siren located at the "iirehouse was recently equipped to assist in alerting the rescue squad members The siren call is a high-pitched, rapidly alternating tone. When this signal is heard, motorists are asked to yield to squad members with amber flashing lights and to the rescue vehicles. RORY MARSHALL Coast Guard Seaman Ap prentice Rory S. RECOGNITION There is nothing more rewarding to an educator than to have an interested parent give of his time to schools or school related activities. School District 15 feels fortunate to have public spirited people who have, or who are willing to sacrifice time in order to assist in the educative process or to avail themselves to school meetings so that they can better understand and interpret Paula Vogel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Vogel of 7808 Barnard Mill road, Richmond, has been appointed a resident assistant in Blackstock hall for the 1972-73 school year, Miss Judy Vance, assistant dean of students has announced. Resident assistants serve as floor * counselors and as assistants to the directors of the residence halls. The assistants often are able to solve problems brought to them, but if they are not able to do so they refer the student to the person on campus who can provide help. Miss Vogel is a junior business . major at IWU. She is a 1969 graduate of Richmond-Burton Community high school. to the community and educational programs offered the students in McHenry. Mrs. Harris Manny, who has at tended meetings in order to be a liaison person between the school and the community, is one of these parents that District 15 would like to recognize for her sincere ef forts and concern for the schools.
