The money raised will go for tents and other equip­ ment. Last count we had 5200 lbs., and still more. You have many hikes that will lead to 100 miles and one 50 miler in August sometime. We are doing a lot of camping. We are going camping with the 4-H. They will help us plant 50 walnut trees on May 21,22 and 23 and a week at summer camp, June 20 to July 2. And spring camp-o-ree sometime in May. We also are working on SOAR (Save Our American Resources) for conservation. The Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts and 4-H will clean up the main roads, so please don't pollute. We need new members so come any Monday night. MOTHER-DAUGHTER SUPPER A Mother-Daughter salad supper will be held at the Wonder Lake Bible church on Thursday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. All mothers and daughters of the church are invited and are# asked to sign the sheet posted' on the bulletin board if they are coming and what dish they will bring. THEATRE PERFORMANCE For many, it was their first experience of attending a real live theatre performance when the third grade classes at Harrison School went to see the Wizard of Oz at the Mill Run Playhouse in Niles, on Wed­ nesday,. The youth of Wonder Lake - Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H members, along with their leaders, care enough about the litter pollution along our Wonder Lake roads to spend a Sunday afternoon on April 30, cleaning them up. Over refreshments at Christ the King hall later, the workers ex­ pressed disbelief that people really could throw all that garbage out of their cars. We couldn't believe it either when we drove along Wonder Lake road to Route 120 a day later and saw that the litter pigs were at it again with a paper cup here, an empty can there, a half-eaten orange, and a little further down, the empty paper bag. POPPY DAY Hospitalized disabled veterans are at present engaged in the assembling of over a million poppies which will be offered to the citizens of Illinois during the 48th Annual Poppy Day of the American Legion and the American Legion auxiliary on Saturday, May 20. Each year the Illinois American Legion employs Veterans in Illinois hospitals to assemble the prefabricated little red memorial poppies. It is expected that more than twelve thousand dollars will be paid directly to the hospitalized veterans for this year's poppy assembling. The remainder of the funds contributed will be utilized by the American Legion and the American Legion auxiliary for service and relief work among needy disabled veterans and their dependents. BACK HOME Eunice Tobey is home and resting up after putting about 3,000 miles on her car. She drove to Florida and back all alone. While there she visited with Mrs. Frank Tobey, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Tobey, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilson, Jr., all of Margate, Fla. She visited the airport, shopping center, and dunked her tootsies in the ocean. It was a long and lonesome trip and I think she is glad to be back home even though she had a very en­ joyable visit during her short stay there. See you next week.
