November is always designated as the "Thanks-for-Giving" month, according to Norman K. Dasenbrook, executive director. January, 1973, at 3:00 P.M. McHENRYCOUNTY ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS By: -s- CharlesT. Smith Chairman (Pub. Nov. 17, 1972) "At this time of the year we realize that we at Goodwill have more than the usuaf number of blessings to count, Mr. Dasenbrook continued. The people of this community have remembered Goodwill every day of the year, as evidenced by the constant flow of con tributions we received. It is only natural that we think that only one day isn't enough to thank them for their generosity." Goodwill is always grateful for the support its program receives, but because this is a special season of thanks for everyone, the workers at Goodwill want the citizens of McHenry to know that they are particularly remembered during November for their contributions, he said. The training vocational rehabilitation, and work ad justment that Goodwill gives to the handicapped is mainly a result of the gifts of usable clothing and household materials. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Nov 27, 1947) The celebration of one of life's rare events, a sixtieth wedding anniversary, was denied a McHenry couple when death intervened this week claiming Mrs. Stephen H. Miss Vandelina Diedrich, accompanied by friends, has been enjoying a vacation trip to California and other points of interest in the west. After several weeks of suspense for the nany persons who were extremely interested in the outcome of the problem of whether or not the county court house would be rebuilt, the board of supervisors settled the matter at a recent meeting, at least for the present. There will be no more rebuilding in any manner this year, and not before next spring. Coaches McCracken and Roche trotted out impressive looking basketball fives here last Friday night as the home boys beat St. Mary's of Woodstock. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Nov. 29, 1962) City employees have been busy this week installing fluoridation equipment at the new water plant south of McHenry and it should go into operation real soon.
