POET'S CORNER CHRISTMAS Christmas should be a time of joy, When men and angels their tongues employ, To sing the carols of the Christ-Child's birth Of glory to God and peace on earth. A time when families gather 'round The hearth, in homes where love surrounds Each one, and makes the day complete, With wholesome fun and fellowship sweet. A time to deck our homes with holly, To trim a tree, be gay and jolly, ^_\ Make happy the day for others too, & Who in life are less fortunate than you. A time to worship and say a prayer For men and nations everywhere; That peace on earth may really be won; And freedom be gained for everyone. Ethel L. Hintz REMEMBER BETHLEHEM When you are discouraged And think God does not care, And life is drab and commonplace And monotonous and bare, Remember Bethlehem. When loneliness torments you. God seems so far away. Just think of Mary and Joseph When they had no place to stay. God led them to a stable, To a manger filled with hay, Where His beloved son was born Early on Christmas Day. When the state of the world upsets you And things seem dark and drear, Remember God works in secret His wonders do appear. Like a baby bom in a manger To bring God's love to man. If there's doubt in your heart of his love, Remember Bethlehem. Ethrl L. Hintz CHRISTMAS REFLECTIONS Fir trees glistening with tinsel and light, Crowned with stars to remind of the night A child was born in Bethlehem To bring peace and goodwill to men. Gifts all wrapped with crimson and gold Given with love, as wisemen of old Gave to the Christ-Child as He lay In a cattle stall on a bed of hay. Carols ring out on the cold frosty air. By young and old sung everywhere, Remind of the angel host on high Singing "Glory to God" to the shepherds nigh. Faces aglow with radiance and mirth Gathered round the family hearth, Reflect the joy of that first Christmas morn, Brought to earth when the Christ was born. Ethel L. Hintz LET'S HAVE ANOTHER CHRISTMAS DAY Let's have another Christmas Day Just as we did a year ago today. With that sparkle, that gleam, That all around glow really means It's Christmas time again. Let's have another Christmas Day And once again to say that love is here to stay Just as we did a year ago today In a moment of tenderness, A mountain of joy and happiness For the rest of the forever Christmas Days. How many new ways is there to say I wish you a Merry Christmas? I wish I only knew and hope There are a million or two So I can say them all to you. by Henry W. Cieslak A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS DAY As I look back upon the years I raised my children three, I fondly remember happy times Around our Christmas tree; It's Christmas morn and those three kids Are small and very young, I awake to hear the church bells ring, Beckoning everyone; Then all of a sudden I realize The time is just now five, I can hear the kids excited talk As they begin to rise; They tried so hard to be real good At this time of the year, And one quick peek at the presents there Tells them Santa has been here With the tree aglow the colored lights Help to greet this Christmas day, I turn the record player on And Christmas Carols play Kids trying to wake daddy up, He's such a sleepy head To pass around the presents now He rolls right out of bed, All toys that had been asked for Are looked at wondrously, «, I had almost lost the battle Trying to hide them secretly; Each had their biggest stocking Full of fruit some nuts and candy, Why Santa even took the time To stuff a sock for Granny; He'd not forget that Mom and Dad Had placed an order too, Everyone received some gift To make a wish come true; Then at the end of what had been A WONDERFUL Christmas day, We all gave thanks for everyting As we knelt down to pray ; For even tho 'twas Santa Who provided all the toys, God gave to me the greatest gifts Three kids to fill my heart with joy.
