THINK ABOUT IT! by BOB JUSTEN Different po-jple have different attitudes toward people and life. Consider for example, these two quotes. Bishop Sheen quotes Jean de Rougement as saying. "If my neighbor is stronger than I, I fear him; if he is weaker, I despise him; if we are equal, I resort to subterfuge. What motive could I have for obeying him, what reason for loving him?" The second quote is from an unknown author . . . "When you're tired and worn at the close of the day, and things don't seem to be going your way, . . .When even your patience has come to an end, try taking time out and Confide in a Friend . . .Perhaps he too may have walked the same road, with troubled heart and a bur densome load. ... To find peace and comfort some where near the end, when he stopped long enough to Confide in a Friend . . . For there are most welcome a lew words of cheer, for some one who willingly lends you an ear ... No trouble exists that time can not m?nd, but to get quick relief , Confide in a Friend." Two entirely different attitudes. Which do you like (jest? . . . GEORGE R. JUSTEN FUNERAL HOME 3519 W. Elm Street, McHenry, Illinois Phone 385-2400 a much lengthy discussion it was decided that the Road Commission would meet at the site with the local residents to review the problems. Mr. Norman also asked the Board about the condition of the pier and suggested that possibly the men who park their boats there could repair it. Mr. Henderlong, chairman of the Parks and Public Buildings committee will review the situation and arrive at a recommendation to the village board at a future meeting. Permission was granted to the McHenry Shores Social club to hold their monthly meetings at the village hall. Clerk Lillegard requested the permission to purchase a mimeograph machine, bulletin board and a paper cutter for use in the village offices. Permission was granted by the board. PROUD PARENTS OF FIRST BORN L®r and Jackie Mateja are the parents of their first born child. Baby boy Mark Matthew was born Jan. 5 at McHenry hospital and weighed in at 6 lbs., 4 oz. The proud grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ewald of Grayslake and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mateja. Our sincere congratulations. KEEP THOSE CARDS COMING Within the past week I have had the opportunity of calling upon several of our sick neigh bors. I never really knew how much good it does to send a get- well card to someone who is under the weather. I was greatly awakened to hear the remarks that how welcome and how nice it was to know that the local residents do care when one is in the hospital. If you can spare just a minute of your time send a card today to someone you know who is hospitalized or recovering at home. I'm quite sure that it will make their day a little brighter. Mr. Quinti has just returned home after surgery in McHenry hospital as well as Mr. Pinltonsly, Sr. Joseph Mondry is still in Sherman hospital in room 418, bed 1. - McHENRYSHORES SOCIAL CLUB The newly formed McHenry Shores Social Club had its first official meeting on Feb. 18 at the village hall. The Boettchers invited Ted and Marion Boettcher (Dad and Mom), and Bill's sister, Linda, her husband, Dick Banks, and their children, Tom, Jim, and Laura, out for an all around birthday celebration. HOUSE BREAK-IN REPORTED It is never a pleasant duty to report on one's neighbors troubles. But this week I have received news of a house being broken into. The Tommy Lamb residence, 2409 S. Riverview Drive, was illegally entered sometime between last Tuesday and Sunday. The home was/Completely ransacked by unknown intruders, although the Lambs, as well as the police, suspect this is the result of juvenile intruders. The only items missing from the residence was a small Sony TV and approximately $8. The Lambs would like their property returned, and if anyone has seen the TV set or has any information on its location, they would be most grateful. We are all neighbors in this community, and are somewhat segregated out here, therefore, it would be a good idea for all of us to look out for each other. BIRTHDAYS . The seminar will be held consecutive Saturday iQorpiog$ beginning March 2. The sessions will begin at 9 and last until noon at the Crystal Lhke campus of the college. "The purpose of the seminars is not to develop professional public relations practitioners in four weeks - that is obviously impossible. However, we hope to make publicity chairpersons more comfortable doing the job that has to be done," said Diana Vickery, director of public information at MCC. "The direction that the four sessions will take depends primarily upon the interests and desires of these in attendance," she added. The four sessions will cover the writing and preparing of news releases, photography, layout and design of small brochures and printing terms. Instructors for the classes will be G. William Tennant, director of public information at Singer Zone center in Rock- ford, and Ms. Vickery. The final session will include a question and answer period which will be conducted by Tennant, Ms. Vickery and Joan Arden, director of public in formation at McHenry hospital. Registration information may be obtained by calling the Office of Community Services (459-6800 Ext. 24) or the Office of Public Information (Ext. 54) at the college.
