CONSERVATION CONCERNS McCullom Lake hosted the Conservation Club meeting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21. A need for interested en vironmentalists to help clean up the lake has been expressed. A special plea is being made to Parkland School -and the surrounding Scout troops and youth groiips. They plan to pull debris from the feeder channels and improve the lake's general appearance in May. Contact president Jerry Raycraft if interested in the details. The club's agenda includes a meeting to be held in the Lakeland Park community house on March 21 the third Thursday of the month at 8 p.m. In addition nominations for officers will be held at this time and the annual fund raising will be discussed. PROUDPARENTS Parkland School was the scene for an exciting evening of fun and entertainment on Feb. 19. A basketball game between the faculty and the eighth grade boys encouraged much laughter. Tom Wasicak played on the team and presented his mother, Sylvia, with a lovely flower. Bev Johnson also was recognized with a flower from her daughter, Charlynda, who is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. All at tending parents enjoyed seeing their sons and daughters participate and certainly ap preciated the expression of love. Spring Grove Eva Freund 675-2135 Plan Luncheon And Card Party For March 13 Members of the committee in charge of the annual St. Patrick's day card party and luncheon have met and are making arrangements. The date set is Wednesday, March 13, in St. Peter's parish hall. Serving will begin at 11:30 a.m., on ihe menu will be chicken-a-la-king, salad, coffee and dessert. PIONEER CLUB MEETS Those from here who at tended the meeting of the P^neer Club in Richmond and spent a social afternoon on Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Meyer, Mrs. Ida Koberstine, Mrs. Eva Freund and Mrs. Mamie Tinney. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Tinney are new members. RETURN FROM ARIZONA Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller have returned from a month's vacation in Arizona. Since their return Mrs. Miller has un dergone surgery on her foot. She is recuperating very well and is back home. LCWC Twenty members of the Lotus Country Woman's Club met at the town hall on Wed nesday afternoon, Feb. 20. Hostesses were Frances Heinemann, Arleen Kruger, Dolores Ellefsen, Sah Hanssen, Susie Rudolph, Kay Smith and Tina Komar who served a lovely lunch. Meeting was opened by President Pauline Horak with the reading of Collect and a Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Frances Heinemann due to absence of Secretary Eva Freund. Treasurer's report was given. Notes were read by corresponding secretary. A letter was read asking ine club to reconsider a previous decision made to resign from the Federation. Votes were cast by ballot and the vote to remain in the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs was passed by a large majority. Sunshine committee reported that Alice Weber had un dergone surgery but was coming along fine. The program was a white elephant auction, proceeds were added to the club's treasury. CHRISTIAN MOTHERS MEET The regular meeting of members of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Peter's was held in the parish hall on Thursday night, Feb. 21. Meeting was opened with a prayer and a pledge of allegiance to the flag by President Beverly Schmitt. Secretary and Treasurer reports were given and ap proved. Chairman of the St. Patrick Day party announced that the luncheon and card party would be on Wednesday, March 13, 11:30 a.m. Plans for a Day of Recollection were discussed, to be held sometime in March in the church or parish hall. Boxes of groceries have been given out to the people in need and the supply is now exhausted. A most interesting and enlightening talk was given by Mrs. Pat Kagan. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Congratulations to Mamie Tinney whose birthday was on Feb. 17. Her sons, Bob Tinney and Brother Gale (Frank) Tinney, were home Sunday to celebrate a birthday dinner with her. ENJOY MATINEE I visited in the home of Mrs. Edna Olson, McHenry, on Tuesday evening. Enjoyed a good home cooked meal with her and spent the night. On Wednesday morning we joined a bus load of women and drove to Chicago. We met Mrs. Shirley Dawson and had lunch together. Then at 2 p.m. we walked over to the Shubert and saw the matinee.
