Approximately 150 persons attended the annual spring luncheon and card party sponsored by the Lakeland Park Women's club. The festive event was held Wednesday, April 3, at St. Patrick's hall. Each person received a lovely ceramic pitcher with flowers as a remembrance of the day's delicious food and fun card playing. Other prizes were plentiful and very nice also, and I heard everyone appreciated the fine efforts of the members of the club who pitched in and helped make the day possible. A special thank you is extended to Mary Dobbins and Barbara Emory who oversaw planning of the event and to Lyda Radisch, ticket chairlady; Maureen Johnson, decorating chairlady; Vicki Bottari, kitchen coordinator, and to Nedra Eckhart and Tressa Collins who were in charge of a special.event, And, to all the women of the clttb who helped out on the various committees and at the luncheon a thank you is extended from all of the people who enjoyed attending this festive annual event. BOARD MEETING The board members of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association met last week Thursday at the community house. Highlights of the meeting pertained to Lakeland Park Little League, community house interior changes, Conservation Club news and election of officers for the board. The association will purchase new benches at the baseball diamond near the community house, and refurbish the back stop and score board for the youngsters. The parents involved in the return of Little League volunteered to supply the manual labor necessary for improvement of the playing area. The Lakeland Park Women's club has offered to donate funds toward the purpose of some i n t e r i o r d e c o r a t i n g improvements in the community house. The McCullom Lake Conservation club is preparing for their mailing for their fund drive. Everyone is asked to help the club in any way they can. Election of officers of the board members will be held later this month. New officers will conduct the regular monthly meeting on May 2. These meetings are always open to members in good standing of the association. LITTLE LEAGUE NEWS There are still openings for interested boys and girts, ages 8 through 12, who would like to participate in little league baseball. CONSERVATION CLUB NEWS The next meeting of the McCullom Lake Conservation club will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Polish Camp. Do plan to attend and meet the other people who care about our lake. CONFIRMATION CELEBRATION Sue Volz was the hostess for a dual celebration held at her home last weekend. Denny Gibson and Wendy Ann Mueller made their Confirmations at a Sunday morning service held at Zion Lutheran church. Sue entertained guests that included her aunt June Kumm from Chicago, Patt and Judy Patterson and their children, Mathew, Mark, Melody and Michelle, Bill and Carol Fandre and their children, Billy, Timmy and Kelley, and of course Wendy's mom, Charlene. Debbie was proud of her brother, Denny, and enjoyed the excitement of the day as did Wendy's proud sister Catherine. SPECIAL BIRTHDAY Little Craig Wallace had four candles on his birthday cake last Friday when some pretty ladies sang happy birthday to him. Hie ladies were the nurses on the pediatric ward at McHenry hospital where Craig was confined and had his tonsils removed on the morning of his special day. He's home now and is feeling fine as his parents, Mike and Sue, are happy to relate! Am sure Craig will remember his fourth birthday for some time! Belated wishes to you, Craig! NEW CLUB OFFICERS The Lakeland Park Women's Club met last Thursday afternoon and elected their officers for the coming year. Barbara Emory is the club's new president, Ann Rehflnger will serve as vice- president, Lyda Radisch remains treasurer, and Edna Domrese is the new secretary. Our best wishes to these ladies in their new-found duties and our thanks to the former officers, Mary Dobbins past - president and Sharon Gacek, former secretary. » The club members have planned a very special day for when next they meet. The women will visit a live-in home for the retarded in Woodstock and they will visit Harvard where they will have lunch. YOUNGSTERS ENJOY PLAY Heard from Bev Walinski that the second grade classes at Montini School boarded busses last Wednesday and headed for a fun day. The teachers, Mrs. Jamison and Mrs. Boone, took the children to Golf Mill where they all enjoyed viewing the play "Huckleberry Finn." The children, and several mothers who went along to help, brought their own lunch and made a real day of the outing. From what I heard everyone had a most enjoyable day, even though one of the busses did develop some mechanical trouble on their return trip home! SPRINGFIELD VISIT The Walinskis packed their luggage and their camper and headed to points south two weeks ago. They drove to Springfield for a fun and educational weekend. They enjoyed themselves visiting the various museums, including the new State of Illinois Museum, and Abraham Lincoln's home. Bev, Dick and Linda also enjoyed viewing all the other interesting and historic sights in our state capitol, and had fun on their weekend away from home! A CELEBRATION! Donna DeSilva, Sharon Gacek's sister, celebrated her twelfth birthday last Saturday at the Gacek home. Donna's parents, Robert and Irene, and her aunt, Norma DeSilva, drove out from Chicago for the day. Sharon's brother and his wife, Dennis and Bernice Kurowski, were also on hand to help Donna celebrate. Little Jay Gacek enjoyed all the excitement and especially had fun helping his Aunt Donna eat her birthday cake! John and Sharon were glad everyone was able to make Donna's twelfth birthday, a special (me! MOM CELEBRATES!
