BIBLE MARATHON HELD Ginger Wildes of Front Royal Drive, one of our young Oakers, took part in an all engrossing project this past week. A Bible reading marathon turned the Fisherman's Wharf Coffee House of the Alliance Bible church in a beehive of activity for 70 hours! This was the second annual read-in. These young people hope to spark a new interest in the Bible among their peers, by reading from Genesis to the Revelations each year. ftOBBI WILDES HONORED Jtfrs. Bobbie Wildes of Front Reyal Drive was honored by tMfe children of Faitn Presbyterian church on Easter morning. Mrs. Wildes was called to the podium by Rev. William Hanner of Oakwood Drive is home again from McHenry hospital after a rest and a word to the wise, "slow down." STATE MEETING HELD Five board members of the Whispering Oaks Garden Club attended the District One, State of Illinois Garden Club meeting held Wednesday, April 18, at the Timbers Restaurant in Woodstock. After a delicious luncheon, the ladies enjoyed a beautiful demonstration of flower arranging. Those attending the meeting were Gladys Erickson, Kay Smith, Virginia Fouse, Pauline Forbes ana Rose Hanner. The ladies came home all "Gung Ho" about future plans for the Garden Club. SAD NEWS We are sorry to learn that two Whispering Oaks men are patients in St. Francis hospital in Evanston. Both Lamar Bloodworth of Front Royal Drive and Frank Dempsey of Melrose Court underwent surgery. We wish them a speedy recovery. HOUSEWARMING PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lang of Wiltshire Drive hosted the members of their square dancing club at a buffet supper and housewarming party on the eve before Easter. Those who attended the party agreed, the Langs made a wise choice when choosing to make their new home in Whispering Oaks. WOMEN'S CLUB NEWS The April meeting of the Whispering Oaks Women's club was enlightening as well as entertaining. Bob Neps of Illinois Bell Telephone Co. gave many good pointers on safe driving and the quiz show netted prizes for Mary Rita Stilling and Arline Schulz who tied for first place in the 9} H uestion and answer skit, lostesses for the month, Marie Parker and Bobbi Wildes, served a delicious assortment of homemade cakes and cookies which were enjoyed by all. BLESSED EVENT EXPECTED John and Mil Albrecht of Front Royal Court are getting very little work done these days ana are using their back door for Mrs. Robin has laid four eggs in her nest on their front porch.
