PAGE 22 - PLAINDE ALER-WEE&NESD A Y, APRIL 24, 1974 McCullom Lake Geny MHbratz 385-8543 Register For Baseball League By April 25 It is absolutely necessary, for boys joining the baseball league, to register no later than Thursday, April 25, as a schedule must be ready by the f o l l o w i n g T u e s d a y . Registration is at Mrs. Gerri Jensen's home, 4904 W. Parkview, every day after 3 p.m. Fees do not have to be paid at time of registration although they will be required before uniforms are issued, in about a month. First practice is Thursday, April 25,6 p.m. at the beach. All boys in the league, should be there. Regular games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, either at McCullom Lake, or Lakeland Park. There will be as many teams, as there are boys registered by the twenty-fifth, even if it's only enough for (me team. A CORRECTION To clear up a misunderstanding. When it was stated to me, that only three interested parents attended the McCullom Lake boy's baseball league meeting April 11, I took it to mean they were the only ones who showed up. However, it's been brought to my attention that Gy Hansen, Mark Hansen, and George Mayer, who do not have boys in the league, were also present, to offer their help. Apologies to Mark, Guy, and George, for omitting their names, especially since they have all contributed much to the league. MORE CORRECTIONS Sorry for the misspelling of Barbara Reiter's name last week. Also, for leaving Billy Milbratz out of the nursing home. GET WELL Karen Scarbrough has been a patient at Woodstock hospital, where she was taken after having severe back pains. Here's hoping this issue finds her well and home again, (and back to work.) A NEW LOOK The baseball field at the beach is to be completely renovated, and is possibly finished at this time. Restoration was made possible by accumulated-: McCullom Lake boy's baseball league funds, also donations of work and materials, by some residents. He talked to them, posed for pictures, and passed out treats. The egg hunt started a few minutes after 10 , with all the kids anxious to get going. They were divided into three age groups, and each group had its own section. Within five minutes, the kids were finished, and those with special eggs turned them in for prizes. First prize winners in each age group were 4 year old Patrick Keith Loewe, Robert Serabia, who is 7l/z, and Chris White, who won in the over 9 age group. Many smaller prizes were also given out, but some had not been claimed when the hunting was over. It was thought that some prize eggs might have been smashed by kids who didn't see them. A plus this year was the warm sunny weather, as compared to some muddy drizzly days in past years. Fuel Shortage Not Over, USD A Director Warns "Just because more oil looks to be headed our way does not mean the fuel shortage is over," says Jimmie D. Lucas, executive director of the McHenry County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation service. According to Lucas, "Conservation of expensive fuel remains a must." In fact, he says, "The Federal Energy office requires farmers to certify to their fuel suppliers that they have a fuel conservation program in effect." To help conservation efforts and to help with quick certification, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Federal Energy office and the Environmental Protection agency, has developed a 35- point checklist. Lucas explains that at the end of the checklist, there's a certificate that farmers can sign, date and give to their fuel suppliers as their certification. C e r t i f i c a t i o n i s uncomplicated, Lucas says. All a farmer has to do is certify that he has an energy conservation program in effect in his farming operation and that he will use all priority fuels which he receives for agricultural purposes only. The farmer simply signs and dates this statement and gives it to his fuel supplier. Every man is twice indebted to women-first, for life, second, for making life livable. POLITICAL CORNER State Senator Jack Schaffer presents Mrs. Jeanne Holm of McHenry with a letter certifying her confirmation by the Illinois State Senate as McHenry county public administrator. Mrs. Holm was the Governor's first appointment in the 33rd district requiring Senate confirmation. She replaces E. Carney Gilkerson of Crystal Lake who received a letter of appreciation and thanks for his service. Walker. This post is tradtionally held by the party in power. Public administrators in each county of the state are charged with the handling of the estates of individuals who die in Illinois leaving no legal heirs. They represent the estates before the probate court and carry out statutory obligations for disposing of the estate. Senator Schaffer, who sponsored Mrs. Holm before the Senate Executive committee, indicated that: "Mrs. Holm is the Governor's first political appointment in the 33rd district requiring Senate confirmation and I sincerely hope that all the Governor's appointments will be similarly qualified and dedicated individuals." Auxiliary Notes From V.F.W. The Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4800, Americanism chairman, Gerry Kuck, presented a new outdoor American flag to Montini primary center school.
