STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Warriors Win Woodstock Invitational Track Meet By Dick Rabbit The McHenry High School track team came from behind Saturday to capture the First Annual Woodstock Invitational as they gathered in 59 points to outpoint a strong Rockford East earn which finished with 56 points. In last Saturday's McHenry Relays the thinclads fell short by 4 points in losing to Kaneland, but Saturday at Woodstock was a different story. Trailing both Rockford East and Woodstock with two events remaining, the Warriors were not to be denied. With Ev Klapperich and Denny Useman picking up a second and fourth in the 220, and with Rick Freund and George Hansen finishing two-three in the pole vault, the Warriors picked up the necessary points to insure victory. Depth was the name of the game for the thinclads on Saturday. Placing in 14 of the 17 events, with only three first Varisty Warriors With North Chicago Nine Split The McHenry High Warriors split a doubleheader at North Chicago last Saturday. In the first game Steve Himpelmann went all the way as the Warriors won 5 to 3. Jim Grabowski and Bob Dobbertin each had 2 hits for the Warriors. In the nightcap North Chicago won 6 to 3. The Warriors could not take advantage of 8 Warhawk errors, and they themselves committed 6 miscues. Mike Winters was the losing pitcher. The Warriors managed only 3 hits in the game. The Warriors are now 5 and 6 in the North Suburban.
