A suicide note was found. The body was taken to the Fox Lake funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Doherty and son hav£ moved from the home of her parents, the Henry Millers, to the upper apartment in the Fred Rogers place on John street. Mrs. Edith McAndrews, who fractured her hip in a fall on a train while enroute to visit her brother in Alberta, Canada, was flown aboard an ambulance plane to Chicago last week. She was accompanied on the 1,000 mile trip from Estevan, Saskatchewan, to St. Anne's hospital, Chicago, by her granddaughter, Mrs. W.W. Pape, R.N., the former Kathryn McAndrews. William Kattner, 86 years old a lifelong resident of the Spring Grove community, died at Victory Memorial hospital, Waukegan, May 31. .. Roger Svoboda of Lily Lake and a junior in the local high school has been selected to represent the McHenry high school in attending Boy's State at Springfield from June 18 to 25. The local candidate is sponsored by the Legion post. A personal shower for Miss Joan Andreen was held at the home of Miss Margaret Bolger Saturday. Miss Andreen will become the bride of Mr. James Althoff on June 18. After several years of reporting the same old story, the tide changed last Monday on the McHenry baseball diamond and the McHenry Shamrocks pounded away to a 21 to 3 victory over the Johnsburg Tigers. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of June 4, 1964) McHenry's Men of Brass chalked up their third straight victory of the year Saturday when they took the championship trophy at the concourse of champions contest at Lake Front stadium in Kenosha, Wis. Fred J. Pepping, 57, well known McHenry business man for many years, died June 2 at McHenry hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. The student body of McHenry high school showed the affection and respect felt for two retiring teachers, Miss Helen Stevens and Mrs. Jennie Mae Richardson, when they presented them with watches at the Honor Day program. The presentation was made .by Michael Noonan, president of the Student Council. Miss Stevens is an English teacher and former principal while Mrs. Richardson has served in the commercial department and as dean of girls. Sue Novak of Bay road McHenry, was named an winner of the Good Citizen award made by the Kishwaukee Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Donald Palmer, chairman of the Illinois Area Extension committee presented the Lake Region Y.M.C.A. charter to three of its officials at the Illinois annual meeting in Springfield. The Lake Region was the only new Y.M.C.A. to receive a charter this year. President Mrs. Betty Lingenfelter of the local Legion auxiliary presented an auxiliary hat to Delia Freund in recognition for over 462 hours of volunteer service at Downey hospital.
