McHenry ̂ Hospital Hosts Emergency Nurse Group McHenry hospital will host the Greater Northwest chapter of the Emergency Department Nurses association Saturday, June 15, for a pre-summer seminar on various e n v i r o n m e n t a l a n d recreational disorders. The opening presentation by internist, Dr. Marvin Salzmann, will focus on care of the diabetic patient and patients suffering from seasonal emergencies. Heat stroke, insect stings, animal bites and allergic reactions will be discussed by Dr. Salzmann. Dr. Robert Stanell, anesthesiologist at McHenry hospital, will discuss the initial treatment and support in the care of patients involved in water accidents. Pathologist Dr. Robert J. Stein will explain the pathology of impact trauma and the evaluation of drug abusers. A question-and-answer period will follow for seminar participants. "Emergency medical technicians and licensed practical nurses are invited to attend this seminar, as well as registered nurses," according to Mrs. Vivian Johnson, R.N., president of the Greater Northwest chapter. "Becoming informed of the latest medical knowledge and techniques ensures that this knowledge will be applied to the care of our patients in emergency situations." Finding Security In Retirement YOUTH RALLY - A small crowd, estimated to have been about forty, attended the youth rally held last Friday in the East campus gym. Shifted to the school from the city park because of inclement weather, the purpose was to bring young people together and outline objectives of Youth, Inc., a non- sectarian group of teen-agers who are seeking facilities for a youth center. Three Arrested For Disturbance In Tavern Brawl Three men were arrested for creating a disturdance Saturday night at the Hitching Post tavern, 270 Burnett road, Island Lake. Island Lake police and several squads from the McHenry County Sheriff's department were summoned to the scene. Following the brawl, Paul Beyer of 410 S. Barrington road, Wauconda, was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. His bond was set a $2,025 and he is to appear in court June 20. Lawrence Kepelke of 302 Liberty street, Wauconda, and Cecil Headley of 502 Crest road, McHenry, were both arrested for disorderly conduct. Bond for each was set at $25 and their court date is June 20. RECYCLING DRIVE Recycling is scheduled for McHenry Saturday, June 15. McLakewood 4-H club and the Defenders will be at the Market Place Shopping center on Route 120 collecting papers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and glass and cans from 9 a.m. to noon. Charge Two After Early Morning Arrest Two workers at the V.F.W. carnival were arrested on different charges early Saturday morning June 8. Ronnie Benton of 1709 N.W. Third, Oklahoma City, was charged with unlawful use of weapons and Paul Casey of Astoria, 111., with driving on a revocation or suspension of license. City police found their truck partially blocking the north lane of traffic at 1332 N. Riverside drive at 1:55 in the morning. As officers asked three occupants to step outside, a switchblade knife fell from the clothing of Benton. The two arrested men were placed under $1,000 bond each and taken to McHenry county jail. They will appear June 20 in court. STOLEN CAR SUBMERGED' Last Thursday, deputies discovered a blue van partially submerged in Lily Lake behind the Longhorn Steak House at 615 W. Rand road, Lakemoor. Investigation revealed the auto had been reported stolen by the Twin Lakes, Wis., Police department. The vehicle was owned by Frederick Chernikoff of Twin Lakes. Further investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff's department and the Twin Lakes Police department. Patrick Long Is Cum Laude Bradley Graduate Patrick M. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Long, of 813 N. Lillian street, McHenry, was recently graduated with honors from Bradley university during the 77th annual spring commencement. Long, who was graduated cum laude for maintaining a grade-point average of more than 3.25 on a perfect 4.0 scale, received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Engineering and Technology.
