Montrose Recite Vows A lovely summer wedding was solemnized at St. Patrick's Catholic church Saturday, July 6, when Elizabeth Jane Freund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Freund of 3715 W. Freund avenue, McHenry, became the bride of Kenneth J. Montrose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Montrose of 2508 S. Kenilworth, McHenry. The Rev. Michael Douglas officiated at the 3 o'clock service. Special music for the ceremony was presented by organist, Mrs. Dorothy Weber, and soloist and guitarist, Mrs. Michelle Reining. Mrs. Reining sang "Where Charity and Love Prevail" and "The Wedding Song". The pretty bride wore a Victorian gown of white nylon featuring an empire bodice, tucked bib front and back edged with gathered lace, a high neckline and long, full sleeves. Lace trim highlighted the neckline, sleeves and cuffs of the gown. Her mantilla and blusher veil were accented with matching lace. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, yellow roses and baby's breath. Mrs. Kurt (Joan) Jensen of McHenry attended her friend as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Thomas (Josephine) Smith of Woodstock, the bride's sister, and Miss Leah Rode of McHenry, a friend of the bride. The attendants were attired in floor length, daisy print gowns ruffled and sashed with green satin. Each wore a white picture hat edged in green. They carried cascading bouquets of orange carnations, white stephanotis and baby's breath. Wesley McReynolds of McHenry served his friend as best man. Groomsmen were James Styer of Villa Park, the groom's cousin, and James Langer and James Smith of McHenry, brothers-in-law of the bride. The bride's mother wore an aqua, floor length gown and a cymbidium orchid corsage. The groom's mother chose a blue and white floor length gown and a similar corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for 125 guests was held at the McHenry Moose lodge. These beauties will participate in the 1974 Miss McHenry County pageant, opening night highlight of the McHenry County Fair, at 8:30 p.m. The candidates drew for their order of appearance both for the preliminary judging on July 18 and the finals. Mrs. Van Sells will be mistress of ceremonies at the July 18 judging, while Mrs Jane Neubauer, Rockford, will handle similar duties at the finals July 31. Before the fair the candidates will be on a round of interviews and personal appearances. They will be in the McHenry parade this Sunday and go to WGN-TV July 22. John Doerr, Tour chairman, reported the bus trip to the Arlington Park race track was a most pleasant trip and everyone had a most enjoyable time. Doerr also reported that there are two bus loads going on the Dubuque-Galena trip, and there are still a very few reservations left. Persons interested in going on this trip Wednesday, July 24, should contact Mrs. Frank Giel at once. The buses will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 7 a.m., and will-stop enroute to Dubuque, Iowa, for a coffee break. At Dubuque the tour will continue with a boat couple will make their home in Crystal Lake. Both are graduates of McHenry Community high school--the bride in 1970 and the groom in 1965. She is employed in marketing at Oak Industries, Crystal Lake. The groom has served in the U.S. Navy since 1965 and was just recently discharged from service. He is employed at Smith-Corona. Ladies' Guild To Hold Card Party, Luncheon A luncheon and card party, sponsored by St. Patrick's Ladies' guild will be held Wednesday, July 17, in St. Patrick's church hall, McHenry. Serving will be from 11:30 to 1 p.m. with table and special prizes. The public is invited. A special invitation is extended to the men to attend the luncheon and to stay for cards. Ringwood Church Offers July Barbecue« Tickets are now on sale for the annual chicken barbecue sponsored by the Ringwood Methodist church. Aug. 27 is the date of the bus- luncheon-theater trip to Shady Lane at Marengo to see "Cactus Flower". The two buses are filled; however, contact Mrs. Giel if interested in case of a cancellation. George Binder advised members that those who had been disappointed about not getting reservations for the Travel club trip to St. Louis and Springfield can still get reservations on the trip leaving July 29, which includes also the thirtieth and thirty-first. Alf Heggeland informed members that the Art classes will be meeting on the first floor at Landmark school (instead of the lower level) at 2 p.m. instead of 2:30 p.m. The classes will continue throughout the summer; however, the square dancers are in recess until fall. Mr. Conrad, vice-president, advised the membership that Ms. Signa Wright will be the representative from the club at the Advisory committee meetings of the McHenry board of education high school board meetings. Ms. Wright is well qualified to represent the group, and the group was happy to hear a few words from her in respect to this representation. The program for the evening was "Ludwig" Kalbrunner, zither player and yodeler - from the Northern Chalet at Libertyville. It was a delightful program, and interesting because "Ludwig" clued members in on the history of the zither, and the technics of playing it. The club members enjoyed joining in singing along with him and even a couple of the members danced to his lilting tunes. The annual picnic for club members is Saturday, July 13, at Veterans Acres on the Crystal Lake blacktop. Members are reminded to bring their own lunches and table service. Coffee and cold, drinks will be provided by the club. Games and entertainment have been planned, and there will be prizes for various games. The next meeting of the club will be Monday evening, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. at East campus cafeteria, when the program will be a sing-along with Dolly Mazzarella leading, assisted by the kitchen band pianist and several others.
