You don't have to be rich to Pistakee Ladies Golf League Thurs. morning the sky wasn't exactly sunny, but the girls managed to put in their all important 9 holes for their handicaps. The luncheon was a masterpiece of perfection--as usual! Peg placed a not only delicious, but beautifully served orange salad, chicken breasts stuffed with almonds and apples, green beans sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and her delectable apple fritters topped off with delicious coffee and a mouth watering lime ice parfait. Not to mention her home made rolls. She just has to be the best cook in the whole McHenry County! Mary Vales won the low putts prize for a 32 "Angel Face" - and she really has one - was sinking them the right way. Pat Barber, Dor Kreamcheck and Libby Johnson tied for low net with Dor Kreamcheck (our Pres.!) (whose husband says its fixed) taking home the prize. Bernice Dolce has been off her "footing" for the past 2 weeks; but she is now all set to give Ethel Broderich and Pat Scheskie a good run for the trophy. Keep your eye on Sandy Nank. She's coming up fast. Next week starts the serious golf. No more playing around - now its playing a round of really good golf. McHenry Youth League FOX RIVER STONE CO. Norton began on the outside in the seventh row but managed to avoid a five-car pileup in the fourth turn early in the race and move up methodically through traffic to take the lead midway in the 15-lap event and then pull away from the field, lapping several slower cars in the process. Meanwhile, his brother Duke of nearby Wonder Lake didn't fare so well and was taken out of the action in the five-car crash, his car suffering heavy damage to both front and rear. Incredibly, the car was repaired in time to run in a special program Sunday night on the asphalt track at Lake Geneva. The Saturday night mishap stopped Duke in his bid for a fourth feature win,in a row. After the regular program another Norton-Sid's wife Patt-placed third in one of two special powderpuff races for women. She proved an able driver and passed several cars before drifting wide two laps before the end of the eight-lap race and losing ground to the two leaders. In the super* modified division, Jim Moulis of John- sburg took second in his heat race and then placed second in the 25-lap feature race. And McHenry's Jerry Reinhard was unable to finish among the leaders in his races. The Tigers got on the board first when, with one out, Ron Miller singled, stole second, reached third on an infield out, and scored on passed ball. Dixon tied the ball game in the fourth, and added two more runs in the fifth. In the tiger half of the fifth, Steven George led off the inning with a triple, and later scored on Miller's second single of the day. In the seventh inning George led off with a double and Ron Miller hit his third single to send the game into extra innings. Dixon scored the winning run in the ninth inning when, with one out, the catcher Woodin hit a double, went to third on a passed ball, and then scored on an error. Bob Hundley was the losing pitcher for the Tigers going all the way. Peterson was the winner for Dixon. The Tigers were home last Sunday, June 1 against Earlsville. The Swing Of Things These young girls of the M.C.H.S. badminton team were snapped by the camera in various stages of their swings in a recent meet against Zion> Benton. It was a poor year for victories for the gals, but they are a young team and should be in the swing of things next season. The double court will be availabe to the community during off-school hours. This is an excellent opportunity for community improvement. It will cost only '2 the normal price of putting in a tennis court, since the bottom surface is already down, being used as an extra play area at the school. Indian Ridge Subdivision has graciously donated $1,500, a great kick-off for this project. This money was originally intended for a court in the subdivision, but as the price of putting in a court went up, they found it impossible to do it on their own. Indian Ridge wholly supports a school tennis court. Businesses, clubs, and in dividuals will be approached to help make this project a suc cess. The Tennis Boosters are very enthusiastic ana hope to raise an additional $5,500 by the end of June.
