Miss Mary Esther Stoffel and Mr. Gerald .John Carey took place June 9 at St. Mary's church. The Mass was solemnized by Rev. Charles S. Nix. Mesdames A.G. Barbian and John E Freund have leased the store room during the many years occupied by the M M. Niesen grocery and will open in the near future a women's and children's apparel store to be known as the "Nobby Style Shop". Elmer Koerner, a member of the McHenry Community high school faculty, expects to remain in McHenry the coming summer. Mr. Koerner,is a very fine musician and will be a great aicTto the McHenry band during the summer season. The McHenry Grays will again Jravel to Aurora next Sunday to do battle with Car­ penter's Aurora semi-pros. These two teams have already met in two encounters with each team taking one game. Misses Arline Harrison, Helen Powers and Pauline Pufahl left the last of the week for DeKalb where they will attend summer normal. Bernard Wegener passed away at his late home on Elm street Saturday after an illness of several months. The business men in the main street section of this city are preparing for a celebration for the opening June 18 of the first pavement on Main street. There will be a band concert by the McHenry band and pavement dancing with Frank Gans' orchestra. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of June 13, 1935) Miss Mary Kinney, eighth grade teacher, and her sister, Katherine, left this week on a trip in which they will- visit New Mexico enroute to their home at Mankato, Minn. Mrs. John Bolger of McHenry and Miss Theresa Howden of Richmond entertained a party of friends at the former home at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Lillian Doherty, who will be a June bride. Four McHenry high school graduates have finished their four years at the University of Illinois. The local young men receiving degrees were Ken­ neth Boley, B.S. in Liberal Arts and Sciences; Lowell Nye, B.S. in Journalism; James Fay, B.S. in Accounting and Edward Sherman, B.S., in Commerce. What has been called by some of the country's greatest critics as "America's Greatest Colored Orchestra" is coming to the Fox Pavi\ion, McHenry, on two nights, June 19 and 20 to provide dance music for the patrons of the Fox. It is the original McKinneys Cotton Pickers, a 14 piece orchestra of colored musicians. Carle D. Ross is now at Downieville, Calif., where he is editor and publisher of the "Mountain Messenger". Carle was a former resident and employee of the Plaindealer and will be remembered as the!' son of Dr. Ross, a dentist who practiced here for many years. On June 5, Miss Adeline Perkins of McHenry became the bride of Mr. Edward F. Matson of Waukegan at St. John's church in Waukegan. The Rev. J.N. Naly reading the service.
