Pin a weak moment, we romised to say something nice >ut the Cubs. How about Cub ins? One of these days-- Watched a train going north jt of McHenry at the 15 mile . er hour limit and decided they Jidn't need the cow-catcher on le front of the engine. They iren't going to catch anything. Just checked our calendar Igain to be sure. The third annual Joe Frett Memorial will be Friday, June 27. That's a big day. Hope you have made your reservation. Aside from the weather, Father's Day was a success. We ride high that one day of the year, but come back down to earth suddenly. Hi, Dick Rabbitt! One gal sent in a golf story last week (not school news) with your name on it. Your writing must have made a hit with the readers - expecially the gals! There are some drivers who will give you a break in traffic, but don't hold your breath waiting for one to come along. At least the White Sox will have some new faces and new arras to finish out the season. fftlcHenry County Bowling Proprietors, representing almost every community in the county, contributes $400 to Pioneer Center ti aid in that organization's service to the developmentally disabled. But, he was going good when they traded him off to Oakland for Dave Hamilton, a southpaw. While Hamilton never showed the stuff to worry the regular mound staff about their jobs, he may find his spot with the Sox. Thought he^vas more than 27 years old, but the records must be right. A pitcher should be in his prime at that age. It didn't bring us any joy to see Tony Muser shuffled off to Baltimore. He's a good ball player who had the misfortune to be the backup man for Dick Allen. Now Skip Pitlock also goes to Oakland. One of these days the Sox are going to be sorry about that. We worry about those baseball trades, but our real worry these days is the threatened change to the Metric system. A 400 foot home run or a 50 yard run are just that to us. We don't give a* hoot about the Metric measure. McHenry Youth League Bowlers in the various leagues at the participating establishments take part in the fund-raising effort through a "Beat the Champ" competition sponsored in conjunction with the Sun-Times. Although not reaching the .500 mark they had anticipated, there were several outstanding individual and team per formances during the season. Centerfielder Lee Frick, Crystal Lake, was named to the Illinois Junior College All State Team and was also named to the Skyway Conference first team. Frick finished the season with a .379 batting average, eleventh best in the State. Steve Himpelmann, a fresh man from McHenry, did an outstanding job on the mound late in the season. Steve shut out State Champion Triton College 1-0 and came back a week later to defeat Sauk Valley to win the final game in the Sauk Valley Invitational Tournament. After losing 13 games at the start of the season, the Scots came back to play over .500 baseball the second half of the season. They finished the season by winning the Sauk Valley Invitational Tour nament in Sterling, Illinois, behind the pitching of Him pelmann, Larry Hirschey, Crystal Lake, and Sophomore Randy McNally, Crystal Lake. With both Himpelmann and Hirschey returning next year coach Gus Williams is very optimistic about the Scots chances next year. Wonderful at your back but hitting into it was another story. In spite of it all, there was some fine playing. Dorothy Hcttermann chipped in two beauties and Marlene Damoto chipped in another to Birdie No. 9, which is a real longie. Congratulations girls! The wind didn't bother little Yvonne Matt one bit. The more it blew the better she played and the cuter she looked with her new curly hair style. She was one of the few to make the green on No. 4 with a beautiful drive - against the wind! She- missed her Birdie but made her par. Dor Kreamcheck also made the green but the old story prevailed, on in one, easy four! Ethel Broderich's team is in first place with 6V2 points followed by Capt. Yvonne Matt and her teammates Ceil Seavers, Beverly Rourke, and Jo Karns with 6 points. RESURFACE NOW WITHOUT REMOVING "Lectroglaz" is the name of a new process for resurfacing old built-in bathtubs and ceramic Ule. It can also be used for repairing chips incurred in installation of a new tub, or to change the fixture's color. It can be done on location, without removal. Its process merges compounds to the original bathtub enamel, thus developing a permanent molecular bond, reportedly more acid and chemical resistant than the original finish. Its manufacturers say that the "lectroglazing" process will cut down on staining effects of water-dissolved minerals, one of the major causes of bathtub deterioration. H. E. Buch & Sons, Inc. American Legion Baseball JUNE 9,1975 The McHenry American Legion team traveled to Harvard Monday evening to play their second game. Anyone who appreciates pit ching and defense would have certainly enjoyed this game. McHenry Country Club Despite the rain which hit the area last Sunday all semi-final matches of the Director's Tournament were completed and results show that in Flight 1, Gary Adams defeated Ted Spengel and Art Jackson beat Chris Newkirk. Should be a great final match between Gary and Art. In Flight 2 Dick Freund over Jack Smithson and John Steinbach over Hal Nilles. Fred Ballstaedt defeated Rick Smith and Tom Burke beat Ed Schuler in Flight 3, while in Flight 4, Ace Oja beat Sal Lupo and Don Wattles defeated Jim Gillette All final matches will be played at the club on Sunday June 22. The first round of the President's Tournament will begin on Sunday June 29. Members, look for sign up sheet in men's locker room. Both Dale Urbanski for McHenry and Morris for Harvard were outstanding. Dale, allowing no runs and 3 hits, was aided by alert defense by the McHenry nine. Morris had a no-hitter throughout the regulation 7 innings but was reached for consecutive singles by Steve Mai and Tom Ludwig with 2 outs in the 8th inning, before retiring the side. At this time, the umpires declared the game a tie because of darkness. The game will be completed at a later date.
