DAILY: 8:00 - 5:30, FRIDAY 8:00-9:00 WEDNESDAY. 8:00 - NOON m Here's how to organize your boat club Boating is one of Amer ica's fastest growing par ticipant sports, and the sudden increase in the number of fishing clubs, water ski clubs and cruis ing clubs across North America bears this out. A club offers many ad vantages over "going it alone." Members can share tips on boat cruises, fish ing hot spots, camping and picnic sites, docking areas, and other useful information. And, of course, there is the extra fun of joining up with others on boating excur sions. If you would like to start a boat club in your area here are some sug gestions from the Johnson Outboards News Bureau. • Make a list of inters ested people. The various marinas, outboard and boat dealerships in your area will probably know some people to contact; in fact the dealers themselves are likely members. • Set a date for an or ganizational meeting and pass the word. Your favor ite marina may lend you a meeting room. • A temporary chair~ man can set up commit tees to draft a set of bylaws and to help set a reason able amount for dues. • At the second meeting the bylaws should be dis cussed and then voted on. Pick a name. • Incorporating the club is not always necessary but there are some advan tages that should be con sidered. But, incorporated or not, your group is now organ ized for more fun on the water. Get going. piilp Multiple band radios link campsites with fast pace of today's world is the public service high band (PSB-Hi) that ranges from 144 to 174 MHz. These assigned fre quencies cover police, emergency, taxicab com munications, fire, weather, marine communications and may even let you listen in on news reporters as they cover fast-break ing stories. All Zenith multiband receivers are engineered to receive the 161.65 to 162.55 MHz section of the PSB-Hi band for VHF weather reports. These provide around-the-clock weather information, in eluding forecasts from over 70 U.S. and Canadian • after April 1975) Weather Service stations in key lake, seaboard and inland locations with over 20 scheduled to go on the air in 1975. Be sure to check the Weather Service to see where this type of service is available in your locality. Public service low band (PSB-Lo) has frequencies from 30 to 50 MHz. These provide transmitted re ports from fire depart ments, highway mainte nance crews, the forest service, utility companies, radio-paging services and the like. Find out exactly what the weather will be before you begin a bicycle trip by tuning in the National Weather Service broadcast (available in many parts of the country) on this portable radio by Zenith. Check your local Weather Service for availability in your area. This model tunes both AM and FM stations, in addition to its "pushbutton-weather" feature. There is a fascinating ls world of action that the average radio listener doesn't even dream of . . . and multiband radios are the ones that let you tune in on some of this action in today's fast-paced world. As a minimum, the two- band radio tunes: the standard AM band (540 to 1600 KHz) and the standard FM band (88 to 108 MHz). Wealth of listening Likely additions to most multiband sets are the public service bands. Li censed by the Federal Communications Commis sion to local broadcasters, they are used by public service departments and business for vital trans missions.
