Helping Paws maintains an office open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. It is staffed by volunteers who take calls about animals and make calls to check on animals. The phone number is 459-2641. One of the Helping Paws volunteers from McHenry sent in this article from Dog World magazine entitled "Simplest Solution.'^ "For sofhe time now there has been circulating in veterinary circles an 'ad vertising message' headed 'Safe-Effective-Economical- Animal Population Control Device.' Said to have been created by Dr. J. R. Sheltray, practitioner of Newark, Calif., the message is so unique as to deserve the widest circulation, and we are delighted to reproduce it here." "Designed especially for those who feel that they cannot afford the modest fee for an ovario-hysterectomy (spay) for their family pet, this device is not new or revolutionary, but has been given the test of time." "It*can be obtained without a prescription at*.stores where you normally shop. Many satisfied, responsible pet owners report that, if properly used, it prevents not only un wanted pregnancies but also a host of other acquired problems, such as injuries resulting from automobile accidents, animal fights, and damage to their neighbors' personal property. Ask for it by name at your neighborhood pet shop, supermarket or depart ment store. Remember - it's called 'A LEASH.v ' - We're sorry we can't throw in a leash with a pet although this sometimes happens, but a leash is worth every penny it costs. Helping Paws has these pets available and will require a donation from the adopter and an adoption contract signed at the time of adoption: DOGS FOR ADOPTION A Pointer mix male, il months old, with ••short black and white coat, will be a large dog He has a good disposition and shows good watchdog traits. RAND RD. McHENRY BITING OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW IS A GOOD WAY TO COT MORE WISDOM TEETH. Be Safety Conscious In Mowing Lawn Taking time to read and re read the instruction manual is still the best way to learn how to use a power mower or garden tractor safely and properly, advises George Young, University of Illinois Extension Adviser in McHenry county. You should become thoroughly familiar with the equipment's capabilities and limitations, its safety devices, and its potential hazards. Young suggests following these safety precautions when operating power equipment: - Check the area for sticks, stones, and other debris before you start mowing or tilling. - Keep children and pets out of the area in which you are working. -- Don't permit young or inexperienced children to operate power equipment. - Keep your hands and feet clear of the mower discharge chute. -- Wear heavy leather shoes for added protection. Never operate a power mower when you are barefoot or in sandals. - Keep the mower in top operating condition. When making repairs or ad justments, stop the mower and disconnect the sparkplug wire. - Never refuel a hot or running engine. - Push the mower -- never pull it - Never carry riders on riding mowers. Automobile accidcnts continue to kill people but not the same ones. 9* UARESC'S INTERSECTION HWY. 120 McHENRY, ILLINOIS STEAKH0USE & LOUNGE & GREEN ST. 385-3120 FULL COURSE DINNERS SERUEO: llam to 12am 11am to 10 SUNDAYS TAKE OUT SfRUICE ON tUERVTHIWO LIUE ENTERTAINMENT DANCING FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHT NO COVER - NO MINIMUM • Steaks Lobster • Surf & Turf • Pasta • Shishkebab •SMORGASBORD* Mon. thru Thurs. 11 am to 2:30-5 to 8:30 prn Fri. & Sat. 11 am to 2:30-5 to 9 pm Sun. 1 to 8:30 pm UARESE'S Call Us For Party Or Banquet Reseivations Ph. 385-3120.
