Classes In Preparation For Parenthood Offered Bert Hanson, executive director of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, has an­ nounced prospective mothers and fathers are invited to the two sessions of "Preparation for Parenthood" beginning Monday evening, Sept. 8 The second session will be Monday, Sept. 15. Both classes will start at 8 p.m. "Early announcement is made now so that parents-to-be can obtain the routine per­ mission slip to attent from their family physician," Hanson explained. "In previous session, many fathers-to-be have attended in addition to prospective mothers. We are very pleased with the interest in this program." The program is presented by Memorial Hospital for McHenry County in cooperation with members of the medical staff and the hospital staff. Each session will include movies and talks, and no charge of any kind is in­ volved. t The films are "Prenatal Care" and 'Labor and Delivery." A member of the medical staff will lead the discussion on prenatal care and on labor and deliver at both the Sept. 8 and 15 sessions. Dinners Honor Anna Rasmussen On 91st Birthday Mrs. Anna Rasmussen was honored last Saturday at a dinner for twenty-two in a Dundee restaurant, hosted by her children. Mrs. Rasmussen, who lives with a daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Merle (Pearl) Oliver at 2815 "N. Wooded lane, McHenry, marked her ninety-first bir­ thday. Present were two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rasmussen of Mount Prospect and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rasmussen of Arlington Heights; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Doug (Alice) Lietch of Forest Park and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver. Others present were cousins, Mr. and Mrs. George Frederiksen and Russell Rasmussen of Chicago; also friends, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burns of Ingleside, and Vicar Lynn Rostedt of Trinity Evangelical church. The guest of honor was Senior Citizens Hear Talk On State Courts An attendance of 209 mem­ bers and guests enjoyed a very line program at the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting Monday evening, Aug. 11. Pastor Baumann, associate pastor of the Zion Lutheran church, and a member of the club introduced Judge Roland Herrmann, who gave a most interesting and informative talk on the Illinois courts and their procedures. He very graciously answered and explained the many questions asked at the conclusion of the program Do you like to swim9 Well, there are special sessions for adults at West campus every Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. The cost is very nominal, and a swim pass can be ob­ tained at the administration office' of the school board on Main street. A swim suit and cap are needed. The next meeting of the club will feature the annual Flower and Garden show," which \9 always a most interesting event. Ribbons will be given for the best exhibits in each class. The date is Monday, Aug. 25, at 7:^0 p.m. at East campus cafeteria. Bowling chairman, Frank Giel. reports that the summer bowling leagues finish up Aug. 26 for the Tuesday bowlers, and Aug. 29 for the Friday bowlers. The winter sessions begin Sept. 2 for the Tuesday bowlers at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; and on Sept 5 at 12:30 p.m. for the Friday bowlers. The bus for the trip to the Sara Lee Bakeries Monday, Sept. 8. will leave the McHenry v Savings and Loan association parking lot on Green street at 9:15a.m. Mrs. Giel is accepting reservations. Another tour to the Bakeries is scheduled Oct. 9. Tickets for the annual fall Local Couple Wed Saturday Zion Lutheran church was the scene of the wedding of Camilla Sue Steiner and James Henry Knaack Saturday, Aug. 16. at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The Rev. Herman Graef officiated at the service. Nancy Wagner, a friend of the bride, gave special readings. Mr. and Mrs. Trem Nolan of DeKalb and Marsha Hansen, McHenry, accompanied by Mrs. Ed Guettler, as organist, gave musical selections, "Wedding Song", "Allelu" and "Come Follow". The bridegroom wrote their wedding vows. The church was decorated with orange roses and yellow gladioli on the altar and yellow daises on the pews. Parents of the young couple are Mr. and Mrs.Robert Steiner, 506 Mineral Springs drive, and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Knaack, 2201 N. Alton road. The lovely bride chose a gown of mira mist material, designed with a yoke of Not­ tingham lace, stand-up collar, long Bishop sleeves edged in ruffles, with an attached chapel train boarded in lace. A Camelot head piece of Mat­ ching lace with short bouffant three tier veil completed the ensemble. She wore a pearl necklace given to her by her father and the white wedding shoes her mother wore at her wedding twenty-five years ago. She carried a lace handkerchief borrowed from her grand­ mother Steiner. Her colonial bouquet was white roses, yellow daisies, baby breath and long white ribbons. Miss Deborah Leonard of McHenry was maid of honor. Mrs. Linda Beaman, McHenry, was bridesmaid. Tina Buss, a neighbor of the bride, was flower girl. Dotted Swiss, yellow halter dresses with matching long sleeve jackets were worn by the attendants. They carried bouquets of yellow daisies, orange roses, baby breath, springre and yellow and orange streamers. She wore similar flowers in her hair. The flower girl wore a long yellow dress, with fresh flowers in her hair matching the orange roses, yellow daisies and baby breath in the white basket she carried. Tom Knaack was best man for his brother. Groomsman was Lou Sharp, McHenry. Ushers were Stan R. Steiner. Desota, Ga., brother of the bride, and Boyd L. Knaack, brother of the bridegroom. Mrs. Steiner chose a long, polyester, peach colored dress with matching lace jacket. Her corsage was orange roses and yellow daisies. Mrs. Knaack wore a long blue polyester dress with long sleeves and a yellow rose corsage. A reception following the ceremony in the church hall for 185 guests. Mrs. Jean Fit- szimmons of Monticello, la., cousin of the bride, circulated the guest book. The bride's parents had open house after the reception for friends and relatives at their home. After two weeks travelling north, the young couple will make their home in McHenry. Both are 1974 graduates of McHenry high school. The bride attended McHenry County college and will be a full time student at Judson college in Elgin this fall. She is em­ ployed at Eagle Foods. The bridegroom is assistant manager at Hornsby's in McHenry. Honored guest at the wedding was the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Anna Steiner, of Mon­ ticello, la. Other relatives came from Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin and Georgia. Women Of The Moose The McHenry Chapter Women of the Moose No. 1348 held its last meeting with twenty members present. Two new members were enrolled. They were Kathy Zahn and Patricia McHale. Polly Licastro and Dorothy Belshaw were installed as chairmen for the coming year. Several of the members p attended the College of Regent Night at Harvard and the College Night at Fox Lake. The women held ritual practice July 31 at the lodge. The executive meeting was held on the twenty-second of July. Plans are in the process of being made for the annual Moose picnic Aug. 24. It will be presented with beautiful gifts and flowers. smorgasbord Monday. Sept. 22, are selling fast. There is limited seating capacity so reservations should be made with Mrs. Giel promptly. The program following the smorgasbord will be the McHenry Senior Citizens club kitchen band Those who are unable to attend the smorgasbord may come and hear the fine program the band will present. Mrs. Giel is taking reser­ vations for the Shady Lane luncheon-theater-bus trip Wednesday, Oct. 22, and for the bus trip to Chicago for the Ice Capades in November. Rescue Squad Annual Benefit Dance Aug. 23 On Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Johnsburg Community club, the Johnsburg Rescue squad will hold its twenty-third an­ nual benefit dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Besides a fine ten- piece band for listening and dancing pleasure, there will be delicious beef sandwiches to satisfy hearty appetites. Prizes will be awarded. Every year for the past twenty, the squad has held this benefit dance. It is the mem­ bers' only major fund raising event. All money made is used to keep the squad in operation. It helps to pay insurance, vehicle maintenance, building maintenance and to buy medical supplies and equip­ ment. Like most other county rescue squads, this one is not tax supported. Donations and fund raising events are all that keep the squad in operation. Hold Fashion Preview Aug. 25 The Women's auxiliary of the Family Service and Mental Health clinic invites ladies of the area to attend a very special "Fashion Preview" of fall designer fashions Monday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Lord and Taylor's, Hawthorn center. Prior to the showing which will feature professional models, cocktails and a box lunch will be served. Courtesy buses will operate from Crystal Lake to the style revue setting. Information about tickets and tran­ sportation are available from Mrs. Charles H. (Sandie) Dodge in Crystal Lake. All proceeds will be used to help further the work of the Family Service and Mental Health clinic in McHenry county. held at Sponja Camp in McHenry.
