PAGK « - PLAINDEALER-WKI>\KSDAV. o<'TOREK 8, 1975 McCullom Lake Geri Milbratz • 385-8543 Beach Gals Plan Children's Party For Halloween At their meeting Oct. 1, the Beach Gals mostly made plans for the children's Halloween party, Oct. 31. Fourteen members were present, and all of them, plus a few more gals will help out for the party. This event, and several others coming up, require the help of many people. In the three years they've been in existence, the Beach Gals have expanded their working capital, from $3 to enough to cover all functions foe a year, and have grown from five to twenty-five members. They've donated equipment for the village hall, and to the baseball teams, and have revived the Easter egg hunt, Halloween party, teen dances, and also had kid's Christmas parties, their own dances and bake sales and participated in the fish derby. But, since most functions in volve dealing with hundreds of people, twenty-five members are not really enough to do everything they would like. Plans for a village festival ha ve not been realized, because there just wouldn't be enough workers. All women village residents are invited, welcome, wanted and needed to join the Beach Gals. They would definitely be expected to do their share, but with more members, each gal would not have to dq so much. And more projects could be started with more members. Besides business matters, the Gals have fun. They have a Christmas party every year, and go out once or twice in the summer. After meetings, there is socializing, and sometimes, special events. For those who don't care to, or don't have time, to attend meetings each month, an associate membership is available. Associate members don't have to attend meetings or pay dues. They just give their names as being available to help out at functions, or to donate for bake sales, or Whatever else is needed. Anyone who wants to find out more about regular, or associate membership, can call Dawn Miller, or come to the next meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Beach Gals is an active group, that really works hard, but members have the satisfaction of knowing they're doing their share for the community. HALLOWEEN PARTY Kids in the village are invited to the annual Halloween party, Oct. 31, 7 p.m. in the village hall. All kinds of good things are planned for the evening, including something new, a jack-o-lantern contest. Children are asked to bring their own hand carved, or decorated pumpkin, for the contest. This year, besides the usual up to age 12 categories, kids It and over are also eligible to participate in the jack-o-lantern contest, and the costume judging contest. Prizes will be awarded ac cording to age groups. Plan to be there, enjoy the evening, enter both contests, you might win. VILLAGE HALL OPEN As of Monday, Oct. 6, and every Monday after, the village hall will be open to kids, from 6:30 p.m. till about 9:30 p.m. Village young people will be able to use the hall for basketball, volleyball, and other sports activities. The job of chaperone is still open, and anyone interested can call Gene Huff, for further in formation, on hours and salary. STARS AND STRIPES Driving by the Pioneer center, and the Hansen place in the mornings, seeing those American flags flying, always stirs up patriotic feelings in me. I can't help but start singing the national anthem when I go by. The only trouble is, it's hard driving to work standing up.
