I'm sure with a little cooperation I would be able to keep on writing the news in the village, but in my opinion I presume no one cares whether we get into the paper or not. All Saints is located on County Line Road, just south of Vacation Village (also known as State Line Road) in Fox Lake. Average Cow The average cow gives about 350 pounds of milk a week. That means a cow must eat 315 pounds of silage, 105 pounds of hay, 118 pounds of grain, 14 ounces of salt, 14 ounces of general food sub stance--and she must have 175 gallons of water--all in one week. HELPING PAWS This gentle spayed female lost a foot in a hunter's trap as a kitten. She looks like a Persian and is gray tiger-striped. Appropriately, her name is lloppy as she hops about on her three good legs quite well but slower than normal. She is a very companionable cat and appreciates affection. An oc casional sunbath keeps her happy. She is housebroken. Call Helping Paws or 381-3125 evenings. "Goodbye". "Have a good trip and a safe one". "Take care of yourselvesThe usual farewell remarks -- in this case addressed to a rather unusual trio, a man, a cat and a dog. The cat is all white with one blue eye and one green eye, a long wavy tail, and such clean White fur you wonder how he catches mice. Surely the mouse will see that big white animal across the room and flee before being caught. (But he is a good mouser). The dog is a cocoa color miniature poodle. The cat and dog are real pals. Often they play rough games sparring like a couple of fighters in the ring. But they'll touch noses to say they are glad to see each other. The dog has taken to eating things not usually associated with a dog's diet because he's inspired by the cat. The cat likes corn on the cob (cooked), and now the dog expects his ear of corn too. The third part of the trio is a fisherman. He is off to spend time at his Canadian cabin. The truck is loaded. There are several cases of leading brands of American pet food because neither of the pets fancy the Canadian brands. There's a big pan of kitty litter for the cat who is litter-trained; a bowl and plastic bottle filled with water for the pets; blankets folded on the back seat of the truck cabin so the pets can snatch a snooze. Added to the pet necessities are the usual f i s h i n g p a r a p h e r n a l i a , miscellany for the cabin, and a boat on a trailer. This isn't their first trip together, and for all the trouble it may seem, all three enjoy the vacation. Dennis James says: "THE PRICE IS JUST RIGHT! FREE GIFTS FOR SAVING 250 or more. NEWS Increases in GI home loan activities during the first two months of fiscal year 1976 were reported today by the Veterans Administration. Appraisal requests totaled 106,263 during July and August, 11 per cent higher than the number received during the same period in 1974. The 65,981 loan applications received during July and August were 8 per cent above last year's figures. Requests for restoration of GI loans in July and August totaled 11,183. Of that number, 8,749 were approved. The number of requests during the first eight months of this year totaled 38,129,. of which 29,632 were approved. The Veterans Housing Act of 1974 relaxed restrictions on reinstating loan eligibility, effective Jan. 1, 1975. Previously, loan benefits could be restored only for "com pelling reasons." This requirement was eliminated by the new law, permitting the VA to restore loan benefits whenever the property has been disposed of and the GI home loan paid in full. A total of 8.8 million GI home loans valued at $113 billion have been guaranteed since the program was established during World War II. Almost 4.6 million veterans have paid their loans in full, and thus could qualify for loan restoration if they dispose of the property which secured their loans. The VA guarantees up to a maximum of $17,500 of home loans made by private lenders to eligible military service personnel and veterans of World War II and later periods, it was explained. Veterans who used their benefits before Dec. 31, 1974, may have additional en titlement. Veterans' maximum home loan benefits were raised from $4,000 to $7,500 in 1950, to $12,500 in 1968, and to $17,500 in 1974. The amount of additional eligibility would be the dif ference between the present $17,500 maximum and the amount of entitlement used on prior home loans. Complete loan information may be obtained at any VA regional office or from representatives of local veterans organizations. U S E D N E W •Bargains!
