Teacher Of The Week (District 15) RUTH BUCKNER Mrs. Ruth Buckner is a kindergarten teacher at Landmark school. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois university and has taken graduate studies from National college, Northern Illinois university, and LaVerne college. , Mrs. Buckner is a member of the Inservice committee, plays bridge, tennis and has traveled to Europe. She has one daughter, and two grand­ children. Mrs. Buckner resides in McHenry. Her students are making a bulletin board Christmas tree and painting and drawing Christmas decorations both for the classroom and for their home. Maria Heiser Poems Appear In New Book Two poems of Maria Heiser of 3104 Victoria avenue, McHenry, have been published in the 1975 publication of "New Voices in American Poetry. The poems are "What is Time, Grandfather?" and "If". Mrs. Heiser is a frequent contributor to the Plaindealer's Poet's Corner. A copy of the book containing her two poems has been placed in the McHenry public library. Top Sheep Nutritionist Speaks Dec. 12 One of the top sheep nutritionists in the country will be the featured speaker at the Illinois Sheep day program Friday, Dec. 12, 'at the University of Illinois, says G.R. Ricketts, U. of I. Extension sheep specialist. D.E. Hogue of the Cornell University Department of Animal Science will discuss "Feeding for Maximum Production." Involved in teaching and research at Cornell, Hogue has been active in establishing model production systems for the Sheep Industry Development program. Illinois Sheep day is spon­ sored by the U. of I. Depart­ ment of Animal Science, the Cooperative Extension service and the Illinois Sheep Breeder's association. The program will begin at 10 a.m. with an open house at the sheep farm facilities, located south of the U. of I. Assembly hall. The afternoon program will be held at the Paradise Inn on Route 45, south of Champaign. Hogue will also be the keynote speaker at a Friday Consider Cut-Off For Bicentennial License Program The American Revolution Bicentennial administration (ARBA) is considering a Jan. 31,1976, cut-off date for license applications for Bicentennial commemorative items -now being manufactured under license from the ARBA. The notice will be published in the Federal Register to allow thirty days for public comment. Under the 15-month old l i c e n s i n g p r o g r a m , manufacturers are licensed to make Bicentennial com­ memorative items bearing the national < symbol and the legend: "Officially Recognized Commemorative of the American Revolution Bicen­ tennial Administration." The manufacturers pay royalties to the ARBA which are used to support Bicen­ tennial projects around the country. The Jan. 31 cut-off date will apply to license applications for categories of items' already licensed. Items affected by the action would include such items as flags, needlepoint kits, mugs, plates, paper weights and lapel pins. The action is proposed to assure an appropriate selection • - - evening banquet held prior to the Land-O-Lincoln All Star Bred Ewe sale. The sale will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at the U. of I. Stock pavilion. SECTION 1 of official commemoratives and to encourage licensees to provide maximum distribution of all licensed products to the American public.
