The November McHenry County Council American Legion meeting was hosted by Algonquin Post 670, with County Commander Orlo "Lou" Rossberg, presiding. A majority vote of members authorized the purchase of a new set of flags (the U.S. Flag and council colors). Joe Ferraresi, Lake in the Hills, was appointed chairman of a committee to raise the necessary monies to make the purchase. All posts will be asked to make donations to buy the flags. Some Legionnaires have already pledged to make personal donations toward them. Gues^ present included 11th District Commander John Costello, second Division Chaplain Walter Massey, and 11th District Adjutant Robert Schultz. SchOltz, who is the county's Americanism chairman, reported no date had been set for the district oratorical contest. He also stated that some V.A. pamphlets will be available at the next county meeting. Following a report made by Children and Youth Chairman Clarence Hammond, who is also the Gifts to Yanks Who Gave chairman, a represen tative of the Crystal Lake post presented a $750 check to Hammond to be earmarked for the Gifts to Yanks Who Gave fund. - Commander Rossberg an nounced that any veteran needing a job should contact him personally. Upon a recommendation of Boy Scout Chairman Bobby Carroccia, council members voted to keep the council's sustaining membership with the Blackhawk Area council. A representative of the scouting council will be invited to speak at the next county Legion meeting. Warren Swett, the county council blood chairman, stated brochures will be made available regarding the Legion's blood program as soon as he can obtain an ample supply of them for distribution purposes.
