-5SE1 • V ' J Rescue Squad Buys New Equipment Truck Gary Baseley, right, president and Bob Nebel, left, fund drive chairman, are shown putting the finishing touches on the McHenry Area Rescue squad's new equipment truck. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD The McHenry Area Rescue squad recently purchased a new equipment truck. The vehicle, purchased from Pierce Equipment Co. of Ap- pleton Wis., is a 1975 Dodge one- ton chassis with an all aluminium compartment body. It will carry all of the equip ment needed for rescue from auto accidents or any other situation where the victim is trapped. The members of the Rescue squad remind residents of the McHenry area that the ahnual fund drive is currently in progress. Approximately $18,000 is needed to pay for the annual fixed expenses and the new truck. No donation is too small. Contributors are urged to drop a donation in the mail while it is still fresh in their mind. Those who do not receive a letter can send donation to McHenry Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 484, McHenry, or call Gary Basely at 385-3757 and he will send a fund drive letter. Since the rescue squad receives no tax support, it is totally dependent on the generosity of the residents of McHenry. f HERE AND THERE IN BUSINESS County Farm Bureau women's committees were honored during the Illinois Farm Bureau annual meeting for their safety programs in 1975. The Women's committee awards were made during the annual meeting of the Illinois Farm Bureau, Dec. 10-13, in Chicago. Legal Opinion Allows Holding Of Two Offices Illinois Attorney General William J. Scott said this week he has issued a legal opinion that a new state law permits a person to simultaneously hold the offices of county board member and township supervisor. The opinion was issued at the request of William K. O'Con nor, State's Attorney of Henry county. Scott's opinion took note of a new state law that went into effect Oct. 1. That law (Public Act 79-457) was designed to overcome legal views ex pressed in an opinion from the attorney general last March, which held that holding the two offices simultaneously was unlawful. The new opinion notes that the law now permits a person to be elected to a County board in November of 1976, and also be elected township supervisor in April of 1977. The new law also permits incumbfent board members to serve in the same dual capacity. In other recent opinions, Attorney General Scott advised that a proposed county or dinance to limit the number of licensed private sewage disposal contractors, and to require their residence in the county, would be arbitrary and unreasonable, and therefore invalid.
