Whenever and wherever Juliet King gives a performance, her warm and radiant personality, her spontaneous enthusiasm, and her beautiful voice completely captivate her audience. For her achievements as a mother and in the musical world, the Mothers' association of the University of Illinois awarded Juliet King its 1976 Medallion of Honor. The first recipient of this award made in 1966 was Helen Hayes, the famous actress. Mrs. King has been featured on television in several publications, including Chicago Today. The Rotarian, The Church Woman, and Guideposts. Farm programs extension and revisions asked. Juliet King made her first LP recording and was presented in concerts in most of the major cities of Sweden During the summer of 1976. she sang in Ireland. England and Scotland. In this country. Mrs. King's repertoire" of operatic arias, oratorio, light opera, semi- classical. spirituals, and hymns has appealed to a variety of audiences. She has appeared at a number of art centers, colleges and universities, and Juliet King, a dramatic lyric soprano from Joliet, will give a concert at the Faith Presbyterian church April 24 The program is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p m. with tickets available at the door. Mrs. King hAs won acclaim as a vocalist in txjth this country and abroad. Highlighting her first tour outside the United States in 1973 were a concert in London at Westminster Abbey and six performances for the Armed Forces of the Seventh Army stationed in West Germany. That same summer she was the guest soloist at the World Council of Churches in Geneva. Switzerland Since 1975 Mrs. Junior High Rehearses For "Cheaper By Dozen" McHenry Junior high school is now practicing for the yearly spring drama production. This year's play is "Cheaper by the Dozen," a dramatization by Christopher Sergei based on the book of the same title by Frank B. Gilbreth. Jr., and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. Some of McHenry Junior high's past play productions have included "Dangerous Nan McGrew" and "The Ransom of Red Chief." "Cheaper by the Dozen", is a true story of the Gilbreth family that has twelve kids, (six girls and six boys). Father Gilbreth was an ef­ ficiency expert and made his family do unusual things to become an efficient family. This story is placed in the 1920's. McHenry Junior high school is particulary proud of the director, Ms. Debbie Grennan. Her career in acting has in­ cluded acting in junior high school and in summer productions at the Opera House in Woodstock. She has also acted in plays in high school and at the University of Illinois. Dates for the performance are Thursday, April 28. a free special performance for all senior citizens. For the general public per­ formances will be held on Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30. Curtain for all per­ formances will be at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through cast members or at the door. The cast includes Tom Jacobi, Donna Hoich, Debbie Mortell, Mike Lawler, Steve Stach, Ken Schey, Jon Schmitt, Gavin Wilson, Karen Stroh- man, Carol Utterback, Teri Landis, Steve Hurst, Barb Pintozzi, Mike McWilliams, Mike Vanderwiel and Angelo Catanzaro. The production staff lists the director as Ms. Debbie Grennan; student director, Joe Bielawa; set construction, Bruce Klein; properties, Sandy Williamson; sound, Jamie Werhane and lights, Dave D' Angelo. An examination will be conducted by the Department of Local Government Affairs of the State of Illinois in the McHenry county courthouse. Schedule Seminar On Wastewater Treatment A seminar to assist local officials and interested citizens in achieving cost-effective methods of operating wastewater treatment facilities while still meeting federal and state requirements, will be held April 27, in the faculty dining room off the cafeteria r at the Elgin Community college in Elgin, from 2 to 4 p.m. The seminar is one of several to be held statewide and sponsored by the Illinois En- vironmental Protection agency. "Illinois communities, large and small, have spent hundreds of thousands of federal, state and local dollars to build modern wastewater treatment facilities," said LeVerne Hudson, Division of W*ter Pollution Control manager, IEPA. "Operation and maintenance of these facilities is an ongoing expense. In these days of spiralling prices and rising taxes, the need for local government to save money while still protecting the en­ vironment is important to every taxpayer," concluded Hudson.
