Warn, who has been playing golf for fifteen years, used an eight-iron to "ace" the 120- yard hole. His hole in one helped him card a par 36 on the back nine, and he finished the day with eighteen-hole score of 78, eight over par. STAFF PHOTO--WAYNE GAYLORD TOURNAMENT WIN Recognition goes to Edmund Fellmeth. There seems to be a feeling that evil roots have caught up to some baseball clubs Cincinnati fans side with Pete Rose in his demands while ownership seems to be taking the attitude "What have you done for me lately"" Rose, with great hustle, lit the fire under the Reds for years However, at the age of 36 years he isn't in a good position to get a long term contract Class will tell when the so called fat cats settle down to playing baseball. That isn't to say that many fans don't hope to see the millionaires fall flat on their faces. Watched the White Sox play Oakland Saturday and saw the weaknesses of their subs. That won't do. A little bird told us that you are still one of our readers. (Cheri lived in Wonder Lake before she was married - Ron Vacula's sister). Ye Olde Plaindealer gets around. When PK. Wrigley died, there was a story about his beautiful home in Lake Geneva What most of us didn't know was that Pete Schroeder, McHenry's highly skilled designer of ornamental iron, did the beautiful work on the Wrigley home. Note to Don Hones: You are right. Charlie Grimm managed the Cubs in 1945 when they won the pen nant Need I add that the Detroit Tigers beat them in the World Series in seven games. Four babies were baptized at the same ceremony. Babies aren't out of style in Wonder Lake Naturally we thought "Jackie" was a real prize. She really is! I like people like Clarence Anglese He noticed that our diet is paying off. « Alex Justen is back from a three month stay in Florida and told of his many visits with Gordon Stringer, former coach at McHenry High. It is more than 50 years ago that Coach Stringer came to McHenry, but Alex says his memory of people and events is uncanny. He knew basketball and how to teach the game to the boys. A well liked fellow was Stringer. Mrs. Tom (Nora) Murphy is home from the hospital and getting along nicely. Tom is also showing signs of recovery Grandma Hiller sent me some homemade doughnuts. She's the kind of a girl I like. Had a Jetter from a true friend last week in which he mentions my "activities over the past 150 years, or thereabouts". That letter will be preserved for future generations. McHENRY 1232 N. GREEN ST. After capping a standout two-year career at NMMI with a strong performance in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference's All-Star game in Abiline. Zeller, a 6'5", 200 pound center-forward, selected Baylor's basketball program over a number of offers from outstanding programs across the nation. Zeller signed with Baylor Coach Jim Haller at NMMI on Wednesday, April 13. The McHenry high basketball all-conference and all-state standout played his final junior college game on March 5, when he contributed 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in just twenty minutes of play to the victorious WJCAC team in an 87-81 NJCAA Region V Tourney win over the Northern Junior College Athletic Conference All-Stars. During the 1976-77 season Zeller wrested the all-time NMMI single year rebounding record from fellow sophomore Reginald Franklin, the Institute's sensational center. He pulled down 309 rebounds in 30 games. His two-year contributions average to Bronco basketball totalled 8.1 rebounds per game, 11.1 points per game and nearly 60 percent overall field goal accuracy. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Zeller of 702 SouthRoute 31 in McHenry, Illinois, Zeller worked very hard to earn a starting slot on Bronco teams which finished 1975-76 with a 22-8 record and 1976- 77 with a 19-11 record under new Coach Dave Campbell, who moved Zeller from a forward slot to a center position in a double- post game. The number six man on the 1975-76 team, Zeller is credited by Coach Campbell with making the position switch brilliantly and progressing to a level of play that should contriubte strongly to the Baylor efforts of 1978 and 1979. Broncos Rally To Defeat Warriors 7-2; Creekmore Hurls No Hitter For Zion The Barrington Broncos railed for six runs in the top of the seventh inning Friday to defeat McHenry 7-2. Until the final inning. Warrior pitcher, junior right-hander Bob Sharp kept the Bronc bats still. However. some faulty fielding, plus five hits in the seventh proved to be the Warrior downfall. Victim Of No-Hitter Saturday at Zion-Benton, Bill Creekmore hurled a no-hitter at the Warriors with the ZeeBees winning 3-0. The losing pitcher for McHenry was Barry Paulsen., Zion-Benton scored in the first, and twice in the fourth inning to drop McHenry's North Suburban conference record to 3-4.
