Another giant step for ward has been the devel opment of the "hopsack" effect which looks like woven cloth. For these reasons, New Directions decided, justifi ably, that John Paul Goe bel be the recipient of the very first New Directions Award for his outstanding contributions to the world of fashion. Certainly his efforts in was made by a committee of recognized authorities in the fashion world under the leadership of Chair man Vincent Monte-Sano, President of the New York Couture Business Council and Co-Chairwoman El eanor Titian, President of Titian Enterprises and Co-Director of New Direc tions Press Week.
