Several queen committee members were present to assist with instructions. Laurie Fisher, Miss McHenry County, told of her experiences the past year. Fair officials were in at tendance so the parents and candidates could become acquainted with the persons responsible for the presentation of this annual event, a beauty contest that dates to 1949 when the McHenry County Fair was revived. The fair is held at Woodstock, and indications of a record fair are everywhere, says Charles Weingart of McHenry, president. The demand for both indoor and outdoor exhibit space is unprecedented^ "We've been sold out for weeks, and still inquiries come urging us to somehow find a way for an exhibit that 'must' come to the fair."
