The Old Bridge Softball club of McHenry has planned "Round Ball revue" an evening with four of McHenry county's basketball coaches. The evening's program will be a presentation by each of the coaches, then a question and answer period which will enlighten the fans who want to be in the know about high school basketball in McHenry county. The program will be emceed by well known sports figure and educator Tom Parsley of Marian Central Catholic high school in Woodstock. Mr. Parsley is also with WXRD radio. Coaches to speak at "Round Ball revue" will be: Woodstock Blue Streak's Jack Brennigan, Crystal Lake Tiger's John Swenson, Marian Central Hurricane's Bud Grover, and McHenry Warrior's Ken Ludwig. Coordinators for the event are Joe Dehn and Greg Freund of the Old Bridge Softball club in McHenry. "I feel this will be a very enlightening evening for Don't Skip Breakfast Approximately 16 per cent of America's adults skip or skimp on breakfast--and only one out of five children go to school with an adequate breakfast. Breakfast eaters turn out more work during the late morning hours, are quicker in their reactions and do not tire as easily, specialists say. everyone" said Dehn.' "It will not only answer some of the questions area sports fans have about the upcoming season, but the question and answer period will give everyone a chance to question the coaches on a particular situation or call they may have question of" Dehn continued. Part of the money from "Round Ball revue" will be donated to the school's athletic programs. Co- chairman of the event, Greg Freund, feels very strongly about the event. "I'd like to see Round Ball revue become an annual event, not only to enlighten the fans, but to continually raise money for the schools athletic programs", commented Freund. The evening is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m., in the McHenry V.F.W. located on E. Rt. 120 in McHenry. Tickets for the event are available at local sports stores and from any Old Bridge Softball club member, and at die door. Mark the date Nov. 15 on the calendar for what should prove to be an interesting and most informative evening. RAYMOND'S JOHNSBURG Lake Forest will represent the North Suburban conference in the state Class 4A football playoffs Wednesday, facing Woodstock on the Blue Streaks' field. The Scouts eirned the right to play Woodstock by defeating Zion-Benton 3-0 Saturday, creating a three-way tie atop the league standings. Lake Forest, Zion-Benton, and Libertyville all tied for first place in the NSC with 6-1 records. The complicated procedure for breaking a three- way tie sent the Scouts into the playoffs, while Zion-Benton and Libertyville stay at home. Libertyville completed its season Saturday by blanking North Chicago 24-0. In the other NSC contest, Crown won its first conference game in three years, stunning Mundelein 16-13. In the West Suburban Catholic conference, unbeaten league champion Benet Academy will play at Aurora Central Catholic Wednesday in one of eight first round games in the Class 3A playoffs. Saturday, Benet toppled Marian Central 36-29, while Immaculate Conception was blanking Driscoll 24-0, St. Edward stopped Marmion 19- 13, and Montini was beating St. Francis. The playoffs this year feature several teams from this area. Barrington, which last year played in the North Suburban conference, went 9-0 this year in the Mid-Suburban con ference. The Broncos will meet Elk Grove in the opening round Wednesday. The two teams met earlier in the season, and Barrington won 7-0. . Barrington is led by quar terback Bruce Henricksen, who completed 102 passes this season, good for 1,375 yards. His favorite receiver was Eric Shellenback, who snared 44 Woodstock, who hosts Lake Forest, is led by halfback Dave Mohapp, who broke every rushing and scoring record in the Blue Streak record book. Burmann earned the right to represent McHenry high school in the state finals by being the fifth individual not on a qualifying team to cross the finish line Saturday in the Crystal Lake Sectional meet at Veteran's Acres. McHenry's entire team competed in the sectional, and finished fourteenth in a field which included likely state champion Deerfield, and other strong powers such as Palatine and Palatine Fremd. There were 105 runners in the field Saturday, and Burmann finished *ixt«>nth He was supported by teammates Kevin Weisenberger (38), Jim Smith (94), Don Mitacek (96), Randy Wright (100), and Pat Teuber (102). The winner of the meet was Tom Johnson of Palatine. He covered the three-mile course in 15:15, Just thirteen seconds of the course record. PAGE 7 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNF.SDAY. NOVEMBER 9, 1977 Country Meet Burmann ran the course in 15:59, forty-four seconds faster than Weisenberger. As for the team competition, Deerfield won the meet with an unprecedented total of just 30 points. Palatine was a distant second with 71 points, while Palatine Fremd came in third with 73 points. The trip to the finals in Peoria wUl be a fitting way for Burmann to end his cross country career. The team leader throughout the season, Burmann has led the Warriors in almost every team race. In the last ten days, he has won the district meet, the conference meet, and now qualified for the state finals by placing sixteenth in the sectional. Overshadowed throughout the season by Burmann, has been Weisenberger. His thirty-fourth place finish put him in the top one-third of all the runners Saturday-a field which included just about every top cross country team in the entire state. Along with Burmann, another qualifier from this area was Tim Shannon of Libertyville. In cross country, the top five teams in a sectional along with the top five runners not on a qualifying team advance to the state finals in Peoria.
