The Parish council, lectors, ushers--105 in all--and their ^ives met at the Longhorn Steakhouse for an evening of fellowship. { It was also the occasion for ^warding special honors to men and women who distinguished themselves in service to the historic church and parish Community. Among them were two nonogenerians, John A. <Pa) Thennes. 94, and Charles Herdrich. 90 Mr Thennes. served as lay consultant <trustee) with the late Jos. W Freund through the middle 'teens and 'twenties. Mr Herdirch served in the same capacity with the late Nick Weingart through the thirties into the early 'forties Maurice F. Clark, retired business man, was another guest of honor, who served with the late Peter M. Justen through the late 'forties and 'fifties. He also filled the position of cemetery superintendent for well over two decades It was during his tenure that additional property was obtained and the cemetery was put on a sound fiscal basis. Among others honored were Chuck Weingart, captain of ushers for at least twenty years: Leo Winkel, retired postal employee and present superintendent of the cemetery; William O'Brien, charter president of the parish council; Ralph E. Smith, president of the council and financial aide to the pastor and council; Vera Herdrich, long time president of the Con­ fraternity of Christian Mothers and continuing vital force of the confraternity. All guests of honor were awarded impressive citations as keepsakes of their con­ tribution to parish and com­ munity. | Full Active Schedule I At Alliance Church !u ; The recent day of prayer at the Alliance church, 3815 Bull alley road, McHenry, lminated in a public service Where many shared the hlessings of the day spent in prayer and Bible reading at the Church. The congregation ended the night standing in a dircle around the church sanctuary, holding hands, giving thanks to God for His salvation, healing of body and spirit, and blessings of life. This service was followed by a Thanksgiving and Praise service Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m , where members and friends again shared the Word of God. and gave thanks to Him for his guidance. The regular services at 11 a m and 7 p.m. will be held Dec. 4, with a baptismal ser­ vice held in the evening. On Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5 and 6, Paul Pitts, out­ standing song leader, musician and soloist, will be at Alliance for two special evenings of ministry. Mr. Pitts, a fine soloist and personable, travels extensively in his ministry, and was a featured soloist at the Family Bible camp in Cedar l.ake. Ind., last summer. The public is invited. Sunday. Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. the "Sound Alliance" will be present for a service of musical and inspirational ministry. These young people are top musical talent in the Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in the U.S.A They FOX-CIIAIN MEETING The next regular meeting of the Chain of Lakes-Fox River commission will be held Friday. Dec 2, at 1;S0 p.m at the new Antioch township of­ fices. on Route 173 east of Route K3. Antioch have given one year of their lives to this ministry of traveling across the U.S. to minister in music. Everyone is encouraged to attend and receive a blessing. Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. Dan and Glenda Mielke will again be present to share more on the ministry of Jungle Aviation and Radio service in Papua, New Guinea This group is an arm of the Wycliffe Bible Translators, whose mission is to translate the Bible in every language. The aviators are taught to fly. and maintain their planes, jfly supplies and mercy missions in most every mission field in the world. Friday. Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. there will be an adult Christ­ mas party at the church to which the community is in­ vited. Sunday, Dec 18, at 7 p.m. there will be a Christmas program This will be a can­ dlelight service by the Pioneer Girls' club and the adult choir. Dec 25, at 9:34 a.m. the Sunday School* will present its Christmas program. Rev.
