DECEMBER 23. 1977 Ringwood News 385-8037 653-9262 728-0343 Church School Class Meets Willie Wonka Last Saturday evening was a real fun evening for members o f M o n t e H o s i e r ' s c h u r c h school class. Unfortunately, not all the class could attend the show but those accompanying' Mr. and Mrs. Hosier to Crystal Lake were Laura Baker, Artie Kreutzer and Susan Strom. The first part of the two-hour program was presented by the master of ceremonies who did some of his fine imitations. He was backed up by a band and a Nashville recording star. Next on stage were the Bedrock comics, Freddy Flintstone, his friend Barny Bubble and Dino the Dinosaur. Then the big attraction ap­ peared,-Willie Wonka in person and his Chocolate Machine. He was also a magician and gave candy to all present. Also, Spiderman was in evidence throughout, the program having fun with all the kids. His autograph and Willie's pictures were available to all the young people present. Everyone had a big time and topped off the evening at a McHenry restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Spencer. Those attending to help Cindy celebrate her six­ teenth birthday were her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Sowers, Lenny Spencer and children (sorry you were ill. Cherie), the Alan Spencer family. Donna and Dave Lundgren, and girlfriends. Dawn Gehrke and Tracy Gibbons. The evening was complete with gifts and birthday cake. Dawn and Tracy stayed overnight and that kept the party going much later. Happy sixteenth. Cindy. 4-H NEWS ' The Busy-Three 4-H club held its monthly meeting Dec. 12 at the Ringwood school. The meeting was called to order at 7:45 by President Bob Doessel. Pledges were said, roll was taken, and dues were collected. - Secretary Lee Tomlinson read the minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer's report was given. Enrollment cards were collected. AH the members introduced themselves and told how many years they were in 4- H. Mr. Tomlinson gave a demonstration on wood chip­ ping . with everyone par­ ticipating. Refreshments were served after the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be Jan. 9 at the Ringwood school starting at 7:30. Val Stade, reporter SURPRISE SHOWER A surprise bridal shower was given in honor of Barb Freund of McHenry, daughter of Lenore Freund, last Wed­ nesday evening at the home of Doris Low. Co-hostess for the evening was Barb's sister, Carol Freund. Barb was presented with many lovely gifts for her new home and the guests all shared one of their favorite recipes with Barb. She will become the bride of Jerry Becker of McHenry Dec. 30. BIRTHDAYS Happy Birthday to Douglas Bidlack and Mildred Kelly who share their birthdate with Jesus. Human Development Courses Offered At MCC McHenry County college, through the Student Services department, is offering a one- credit-hour human develop­ ment course for the spring semester. Credit earned in Philosophy 100: Educational Involvement will be counted as elective credit toward an associate degree. Students registering for Philosophy 100 will have the opportunity to choose one of three different sections or options. While each option is concerned with fostering the personal development of participants, various topical approaches are utilized. Specific sections from which students may choose at the time of registration are PHIL lOOA-Transactional Analysis Option where focus will be on s e l f - u n d e r s t a n d i n g , c o m ­ munication patterns and scripting, Jim Gilmour, counselor; PHIL lOOB-Career Development Option with emphasis on self-awareness, career awareness, decision­ making and job-search strategies, Dotti Hovan, counselor; PHIL lOOC-Human Potential Option where orientation will be toward in­ creased self-confidence through assessment of personal values, • human strengths, motivation, and success ex­ periences, Shirley LeGare, counselor.
