One version was as Shakespeare wrote it, and the other was rewritten by the kids in her room. The first thing they did was to see a filmstrip taken from the movie "Romeo 'and Juliet". After studying the scripts, they saw the filmstrip again, now being more able to understand it. Then, they were each given parts, ranging in size from zero lines to 67 lines. They practiced it with their scripts a few times, and were instructed to memorize their parts * oyer 'Thanksgiving Weekend. 99 ,•, When they came back, the Shakespeare version had its dress rehearsal, and the modern version rehearsed a last time before their per formance.. The Shakespeare version performed on Friday for Miss Kielp's reading class, and it went very well. Then, on Monday, the modern version performed for the same class. It. too. went well. Most of the kids thought the unit was a big success. , On Dec. 6 our bands and chorus gave their Christmas concert. The chorus had been working very hard on it. The band also worked as hard. On Tuesday morning they had a rehearsal by performing for the rest of the students in school. Later that evening they did it for the parents. The concert was a "Tribute to the Carols". The parents enjoyed it very much. Some of the kids in chorus put money together to buy the chorus director and the two student piano players flowers. It turned out to be very wor thwhile. Our next concert is our spring concert. We will inform you more about it in our future columns. | SERVICE NEWS I Noncommissioned Officer Status For Serviceman Charles vJolin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J.
