I The Village of Holidayfylls Cheri Hoglund Rosemary Holtz Great Escape- • From Ice State ;To Sunny West The playground of the west, :• Las Vegas, welcomed the > Douglas family to its fair city. -1 While Holiday Hillers were : shivering and bemoaning their '• cruel fate, Howard, Betty and Dawn were soaking up the <• sunshine where temperatures - were in the seventies. Young " Dawn made a spectacle of - herself as she was asked to << assist, live and on stage, with 2 Tony Orlando who rewarded her with a big kiss. • Florence Henderson of the Brady Bunch was in the same •< audience and was thrilled when <t Dawn had her picture taken • with the star and then autographed her menu. Lucky Dawn was also a big • winner, adding some beautiful dolls to her collection. Needless to say the Douglas* are looking ; forward with great anticipation v to next years' excursion. TO McHENRY WITH LOVE Visitors from the Pelican state, Louisiana, brightened ' the already gay holiday mood -< at the Holtz residence. Bill's - sister, Cathy, twofhildren, Ray :• and Shelly, and stepdad, Jog - were astonished, amazed and • delighted by their first glimpse , of snow. Mother Nature ' cooperated, perhaps too much, with an abundance of the white, • flaky stuff. Snowmen, balls and forts - dotted the landscape as the kids quickly learned the fine art of snow creativity. The afternoon was enjoyed by all-and as they drove out of sight "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnite" THAT'S THE BREAKS Noreen DeWitt, sensational superstar of the Marian girls basketball team, will be sidelined for a while. The team will lose her valuable services due to an injury - a broken finger, sustained while in volved in a winning effort. We wish Noreen a speedy recovery. VIEW FROM THE TON Diana Thomas enjoyed the view from Santa's float as a member of the winter Prince and Princess court. Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and the Cinnamon Bear made their appearance Nov. 25. Despite the freezing weather a great time was had by all. BROWNIES Brownie Troop 409 held its investiture for new members Nov. 21. Sally Bartkus, Doris Decker and Robin Thommes were welcomed into the Brownie ring with songs and the Brownie pledge. The pin ning ceremony was followed by a reception for the girls and their guests Santa Claus and Brownie Troop 409 agreed that the best thing about Christmas is giving and lhe residents of Sheltering Oaks in Island Lake were the recipients of these gifts of love. Carols of the season filled the hall with the happy voices. The girls then enjoyed a hot cup ot cocoa before going out in the winterv weather. WOMEN'S CLUB Women's club is alive and well in Holiday Hills. A gala Christmas party was hosted by the club^s officers at the home of Marge Connell. Games were played, gifts exchanged and the spirit of the season was in evidence. Women's club meet every second Wednesday of the month. All women from the village are invited to join.
