A group of Marian Central Catholic high school art students attended an Art Career day at the Art institute in Chicago recently. The program offered the students a perspective of possible careers in the art field. Although classes were not in session, there were many art students working on individual projects, which demonstrated the various aspects of art. The Marian students were also allowed to view the classrooms, which gave them some degree of knowledge of the contents of a college art course. The Art program proved successful, and was extremely helpful in providing the students with an insight into the possibilities of the art field, those attending with their in structor, Paul Gavac, were Lucy Byrnes, Peggy Cum- mings, Julie Lester and David Reed. • ••• It's much easier to get in debt than to get out of it-remember that. 3 DINNER SEATINGS 5:30-7:30-9:30 MUSIC FROM 10 PM TIL? God bless you abundantly - may the goodness of this day remain with you all through 1978! The people of McHenry are happy today - they are just great - many folks, little, young, middle aged, older, all are praying their gratitude for you this morning, for your great support of the effort of Fish to bring Christmas hap piness to so many (Hi this. His birthday. We sincerely hope that we may keep these beautiful feelings in our lives every day now! We know the Christ Child holds you very close to His heart...hold onto His little hand, and don't let go, as we start another year! There were fifty-two families <162 children) who received baskets of food and gifts. Recognition must go to each and every individual, the churches, civic organizations, McHenry business people, Scout Troops, school children, parties, and also to those volunteers who helped prepare and pack the baskets, assisting Santa Claus in his job. We remember, too, those who made the deliveries in our McHenry area. We could not have accomplished this success without you. The pastor and folks at St. Patrick's church donated the use of their basement for the storage of the donated items and all our preparations. We could not have succeeded without them. All of you are well aware of the preparations for Christ mas; the extra hours of work and plans made, the exhausting tiredness of the tasks, but our volunteers kept on... the ultimate feeling of peace and thankfulness swelled their hearts when finally they could "sit down" and rest from this wonderful job. God bless especially each and everyone of you! • : Remember Fish during the year - if we can be of help to you - watch the Fish column for our various services - call Fish at 385-8020, or write Fish, Box 282, McHenry, 111. 60050, for in formation as to our activities. We welcome and need new members. There are no dues, no meetings to attend, only a generous and loving heart for our fellowman! v A blessed and hippy New Year to all! M.G. Jan. 5: Fish portions-tartar sauce, lyonnaise potatoes, cole slaw, iced cake and milk. Jan. 6: Irish beef stew-fresh vegetables, buttered noodles, toned salad, corn broad, pears and milk. soup stock. Add rice, barley, spaghetti or mashed potatoes to complete the entre?. To cut down on the calories simply remove the fat from the soup stock. There are several ways to remove the fat that collects during cooking. The easiest way is to chill the soup and remove the solid layer of fat from the top. If one can't wait to chill the soup, put an ice cube in a cloth and move it around just under the surface of the soup. It will collect the fat particles. Or, float a paper towel on top of the soup. Throw out the towel when it has ab sorbed as much fat as it will hold. * If planning to refrigerate the soup stock for a day or two, leave the fat in place until the soup is used. The fat forms a seal on the soup stock and helps prevent it from souring. w «>a hi* • » _£_** - n - < i.i ]i i < . i f EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT!
