Emergency Room Worker Once a teacher and ad ministrator, Sister Camilla Cameron, Daughter of Charity, had her life changed by a "typical" emergency room tragedy. A little girl had been struck by a car and was rushed by frantic parents to the emergency room of St. Louis's DePaul hospital. For five hours doctors worked to save her life without success. At her death, they called Sister Camilla to the emergency room to comfort the distraught family. Afterward she told the doctor, "I should have been there five hours ago." It was then that she decided on her new specialty of hospital pastoral care, and asked to be assigned to the emergency room on a 24-hour daily basis. Taking her rest when there are no life-and-death crises, she is always on hand to comfort the dying and their waiting families. She also finds time to give the same careful concern to the less seriously injured. "Everyone," she says, "needs someone to talk to or to listen or pray or, sometime, to weep." What does her unique calling require? "I like people," she says. "I like to be with people. From my earliest childhood, I wanted to work with people, help them." Then she adds with a characteristic twinkle, "I thrive on excitement and in an emergency room you certainly get that." Caring for the critically ill and injured is not for everyone. But each of us can, in our own way, become more sensitive to people - the lonely, the ill and the poor. In Sister Camilla's words, "You never know how you will touch someone." MILK DAY THEME "A Day in the Country" has been chosen as the theme for the 1978 Milk day celebration. There will be a genuine country flavor to the Milk Day festivities this year. A few of the 'country' activities being planned include farm tours, horse shows, cattle shows, milking contests, and the choice of a farm family. As in the past, the queen contest, parades and entertainment will be an important part of the celebration. The date is Saturday, June 3 in Harvard. Southern Hospitality Gove. James R. Thompson has announced that five teams of industrial development specialists will call on the heads of about seventy-five industries in the Milwaukee, Wis., area soon. Earlier Gov. Thompson had written to 145 Milwaukee area firms to ad vertise the availability of ^ie presentation on Illinois. Gev. Thompson said: "Tlie Wisconsin firms we are con tacting are those possitfy thinking about expansion. Our goal is to attract some of Ufet expansion to Illinois." T)ie development teams will present the virtues of IHinou' available work force, tie state's transportation systqp and easy access to markets 4o the Wisconsin businessmen.'
