APRIL 21. 1978 New Driver Refresher Series Begins April 27 Registration is being ac cepted for the new series of Driver Refresher courses which will begin with the first' session Thursday, April 27, at the' McHenry City hall council chambers from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The second of the series is scheduled Thursday, May 4, and the third and final session is set for Thursday, May 11. All sessions begin at 10 a.m., conclude at 12 noon, and are held in the council chambers. This service is offered by the County-Wide Sale To Benefit Area 4-H'ers McHenry Senior Citizens club in conjunction with the Secretary of State's office in order to enable senior citizens in the area to prepare for the written test required at license renewel time. Membership in the club is not a requirement and any senior citizen is eligible to attend. Reservations are being handled by James Jansen of 2109 N. Senior Walk-In Woman's Club Schedules Bake The McHenry county 4-H Federation is sponsoring a county-wide rummage sale to benefit the McHenry county 4-H Foundation. It is slated to be held Thursday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Massey hall on the fairgrounds in Woodstock. The McHenry county 4-H Foundation was organized about a year ago and is working to help 4-H'ers throughout McHenry county. The foun dation attempts to aid by awarding camp scholarships, paying for project materials, and assisting in leadership training for teen and adult volunteers, in addition to projects as voted upon by the foundation board made up of representatives of the county. Donations for the rummage sale will be gratefully ac cepted. Contributions may be brought to Massey hall Friday, May 19, between 6 to 8 p.m. or arrangements may be made by calling 385-6566. HANK MILLER PHOTO Over 200 artists and craft smen will be exhibiting their work at "Fair Diddley" to be held Sunday, May 21, from 12 noon until dusk on the Wood stock Square. McHenry area exhibitors will include Sally Miller who will be displaying scratchboards, both in full color and black and white, as well as several matted black and white print editions. Scratchboard technique entails a four-step process: design, scratching the black surface away to reveal a white background, the "painting in" of color with inks, and finally, a re-scratching for highlight and form. Mrs. Miller is one of the few people nationally to work in full color scratchboard. Other area artists exhibiting at the fair include Dorothy Pytko of McHenry who will be showing oil and acrylic pain ting and small wood crafts at her seventh Fair Diddley. Win Flanagan from Wonder Lake will be displaying watercolors, acrylics and oil'paintings. Jane Kalk of McHenry will exhibit both silver cast jewelry and enamel on copper or silver bowls, plates, wall hangings, and jewelry. Silhouette portraits of children, adults, and pets will be done throughout the day by Ellen Jacobsen from Wonder e Lake. Wooden plant stands, shelves, frames and sconces will be displayed by McHenry craftsman George Bessler. And for the young, and young-at- heart. Wilbert Mauer will have dollhouses and dollhouse furriiture for sale. Exhibitors at "Fair Diddley" come from throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, and from as far away as California. Hospital Representative Profiles Outreach Program Bertha Stange introduced Miss Vicki Behan of the McHenry hospital to forty-six members of the Friendship club following the April potluck dinner held recently. Her audience listened at tentively as Miss Behan spoke about the Outreach program sponsored by the hospital. Health care oriented pamphlets were distributed following the talk. The change in location for the Medical van was noted. It will be available to residents of Wonder Lake and Lilymoor every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
