McHenry Hospital Dr. George Gallant Joins Emergency Staff PAGE 23-PLAINDEALER -FRIDAY, JULY 7, 1978 George Gallant, M.D., who studied one summer as a medical student in McHenry hospital's MECO program, has returned to join the hospital's emergency department as a specialist in emergency medicine. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Gallant was a student at Loyola university's Stritch School of Medicine when he spent his MECO (Medical Education and Community Organization) summer at McHenry hospital in 1972. During the intervening years he has received his M .D degree and has completed both his internship and his residency in emergency medical service at the Akron (Ohio) General hospital He also devoted an additional six months to studying general surgery. While in residency at Akron General hospital, Dr Gallant assisted in the development of the paramedic system for the state of Ohio. As a senior resident he helped to teach, evaluate and revise the 400 hour course in Advanced Life Support now approved for paramedic training "Even as a MECO student. whenever I had a spare evening, I'd assist in the emergency room."
