REJD, BANDIT WHO _ WASWOUNDED, PUT IN COUNTY JAIL Headed by G. M. Kraker, who foun®@sd the company at Grand Haven, Michigan six years ago, the factory has enjoyed a remarkable growti1 in that time and especially since the plant moved here from the Michigan city just a year ago. A remarkable growth and expan-- sion of the MichaelGeorge Com-- pany, manufacturers of fountain pens, pencils and desk sets, has tak-- en place within the year's time in which the firm has been located in Libertyville. Full time operation at the factory was not commenced until June of this year, although the new firm started business on the first of Jan-- uary of the year. Since June there _ Reid served sentences in peni-- tefwtiaries in Illinois, Michigan awd Wisconsin. Pen Factory Enjoys Remarkable Growth Reid, who was wounded in the abdomen by Special Agent A. W. DeGroff, of the Soo Line, was pronounced well by Dr. Karl Beck, superintendent of the county hos-- pital where the convict has been held under guard for a week. While he confessed to burglariz-- ing freight cars he shunted much of the blame on Arthur Denney, of hCicago, his companion with him the night be was caught. Denney was shot and killed by DeGroff.
