Salad Oil 2 tsp. Prepared Mustard Combine all ingredients in a bowl except shrimp sticks. Place frozen shrimp sticks over moderately hot coals and grill 5 minutes. Turn and baste occasionally with sauce for 10 additional minutes. Serve on hamburger buns that have been basted with remaining sauce and placed on the grill to heat. Mrs. Weakman commented on the tremendous success of this fund-raising project benefitting Petersen park. Members then authorised the board to award plaques to the top five vote-getters in the contest. Those present at the meeting voted to donate the entire proceeds, 9833.32, to the city park's committee for use in equipping Petersen park. Sandy Howell, chairman of the bake sale during Sidewalk Sale day, reported all proceeds from this event will be used to finance future club activities. Social Chairman Marilyn Bisiewicz announced that the club will participate in a social activity with the McHenry Jaycees this month. A hayride has been planned for Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Lazy C stables on route No. 120. A wiener roast will follow the wagon ride. The time of the next Tea, Talk, and Sew has been •changed to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug 17, at the home of Mrs William Borland, McHenry Those attending are asked to bring a salad to pass and also a sack lunch for their children. Babysitting will be provided at a ntH""1 fee for this get-acquainted session. Two of the "mini-clubs" within the Newcomers group have been organized. The tennis players meet at Petersen park on Thursday mornings. The gourmet club has planned French cuisine dinners at the home of three club members in early September. Elizabeth Loughan of the bridge group will contact interested mem bers during September. Details on all social activities are available from Mrs. Bisiewicz. Program vice-president Mrs. Loughan announced that the next monthly Newcomers' club meeting would be held Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal church. A wall paper demonstration will be provided by a local variety and hardware store. It was also mentioned that members are asked to bring extra canned goods if possible for a food cabinet for F.I.S.H, For further details on any club activity or information about joining the Newcomers club, please contact Mrs. Joseph Wilcox. Any residents new to the area are always welcome at club meetings and are encouraged to attend club activities. Parents-To-Be Invited To Pre-Natal Program Bert Hanson, executive director of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County today announced prospective mothers and fathers are invited to the two sessions of "Preparation for Parenthood" beginning Monday evening Sept 11 Second session will be held Monday, Sept. 18 Both classes will start at 8 p.m. and are held in the hospital dining room "In previous sessions, many fathers-to-be have attended in addition to the prospective mothers We are very pleased with the interest in this program," Hanson said The program is presented by Memorial Hospital for McHenry County in cooperation with members of the medical staff and the hospital staff. Each session will include movies and talks, and no charge of any kind is in volved. The films are "Prenatal Care" and Labor and Delivery". A member of the medical staff will lead the discussion on prenatal and on labor and delivery at both the Sept. 11 and 18 sessions Mrs. -Fran Schlopp, R.N ., obstetrical supervisor, will take part in the program. Included in the class schedule is a tour of the hospital's maternity depart ment. Sessions are also being scheduled for Nov. 6 and 13. Circle Members Petersen Park Enjoy Petersen Park was the scene of the Marcia Mary Ball cir cle's annual picnic recently. There were twenty members and guests in attendance, who enjoyed a very delicious catered dinner After the luscious meal a few important items were discussed, then there was the white elephant auction which really provided a lot of en tertainment and fun, and also helped sweeten the treasury quite a bit Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather, as well as Petersen park and its beautiful trees and fine shelter, and the rest of the afternoon was spent visiting and having a real good time The next Circle meeting date will be Tuesday, Sept 12, and the group has been invited by Helen Walters (Alvina McKaige's daughter) to a mystery luncheon at her home. We don't know what the mystery luncheon is - however, those who are going to attend should let Lyda know so she can tell Helen how many are doming Lyda reminded the Circle members to keep working on their bazaar items, as the time is drawing short, and hopes are that this will be the biggest and best bazaar ever! Also, the all church rummage sale is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9. Gertrude Anderson and Lilah Jordan will be in charge of the rummage sale - so those wishing to help can let these ladies know. A bracelet worn by the bride's mother on her wedding day and a diamond necklace, a gift from her parents, were choaen by Beth Steinsdoerfer to wear when she exchanged wedding vows with Robert Preston on Saturday, Aug. 12, at St. Mary's Catholic church. The 2:30 ceremony was solemnized by Bev. Eugene Baumhofer of McHenry and Rev. Roger Olsen of Wonder Lake. Special music was offered by Ken Michaels singing "Sometimes ", VAve Maria" and "Panis Angelicus" ac companied by organist, Jeanne Ludwig. Yellow and white mums and carnations decorated the church altars and the bride placed a bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin. All floral arrangements were made by the bridegroom and his father. Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Steinsdoerfer, 3608 W. Clover avenue, McHenry, and Mr. and Mrs. James Preston, 4301 Ringwood road, Wonder Lake. A chiffon dress fashioned with high crown neck, double tier capelet attached to bodice, cummerbund type waist line, and three tiered formal length skirt was worn by the bride. Her cathedral length veil with silk Venice lace was held in place by a juliet cap. Her flowers were yellow roses, baby's breath and carnations. A friend of the bride, Julie Gerrard, McHenry, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lynn Steinsdoerfer, McHenry, sister of the bride, Liz Fenske, McHenry, friend of the bride and Nancy Preston, Wonder Lake, sister of the bridegroom. Junior bridesmaids were the bride's cousin, Cathy Bauer of Oshkosh, Wis., and Renee Beck of McHenry. The attendants wore powder blue polyester knit halter dresses with lace bordered bodice, sheer chiffon capes with matching lace at neckline. They wore baby's breath in their hair and carried bouquets of yellow roses, carnations and baby's breath. Serving his friend as best man was Kenne Ludwig, McHenry. Groomsmen were Bill Preston, bridegroom's brother, Mark Steinsdoerfer of Schaumburg and Lee Stein sdoerfer, McHenry, brothers of the bride. The rehearsal dinner for the bridal party was hosted by parents of the bridegroom at Crescent Bay Landing, Johnsburg. A reception was held for 250 guests at the American Legion hall, following the wedding. After a wedding trip to Wisconsin the couple will make their home in Charleston. Both young people graduated from McHenry high school in 1975. The bride graduated from Elgin Community college as a certified dental assistant. The bridegroom will be a senior at Eastern Illinois university where he will graduate in May, 1979, with an accounting degree. Four showers honored the bride. A miscellaneous shower buffet was given at the home of Mrs. Man Ann Cedergren with Mrs. Connie Freund and Mrst^. Gena Beck assisting. Another buffet was hosted by Mrs. Mary Ann Steinsdoerfer and cousins of the bride at the Steinsdoerfer home in Crystal Lake. Free To Be At MCC Meeting Needs Of Women Students More than half of the McHenry County college students who come back to school after being out of high school for more than five years are women. The college is recognizing the great number of women who are returning students this year by providing special classes and services designed to meet the needs of women students. A new brochure tittahPreeto Be at MCC, which describes the courses, seminars and services the college offers to help women come back to school is now available at MCC or will be mailed to area residents who telephone or write for a copy. College counselors, in structors and returning women students are available to ap pear before local women's groups and talk about the new women's programming and the many changes taking place in women's lives today. New this fall to the women's program is the course, "Studies About Women", which will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The course will feature guest lecturers to explore women's relationships to the arts, philosophy, the • theatre, psychology, theology and health. Instructor Mary Kurtzman said the class offers students a chance to learn from several of the instructors at the college as well as from com munity experts. One can register now for the class which begins Aug. 29. Five new seminars of interest to women which will be scheduled in September and October cover the topics of Women and the Law, Rape, and Its Effect on the Community and on its Victim, For Women who work, Women's Ef fectiveness Training, and Management for Women in Business. Information on the seminars will be mailed to all homes in the district the first week in September in the Fall Adult education Schedule.
