The opening prayer was led by Alfreda Williams, after which the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Mrs. Tillie Stilling was installed by Margaret Powers, diocesan regent, and welcomed by the group as its newest member. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Rose Miller, the recording secretary and approved after which Verona Huff presented the treasurers report. General business of the meeting was conducted by Regent Mary Obenauf, and included a preliminary report on the recent successful state­ wide convention held in Rock- ford. Kay Bell, chairperson of the sick committee, told of the activities and work beingthxif at Valley Hi by some mem­ bers. As representative of the St. Elizabeth Seton circle to the diocesan Council of "Catholic Women, she also reported on legislative matters of interest. Father Neville, chaplain, closed the meeting with remarks and prayers, after which refreshments were served by Mary Obenauf and Rose Miller. The next scheduled meeting will be held June 28 at 7:30 p.m., and any Catholic woman in the area is welcome to at­ tend.... . Reserve For Lakeland Women's Officers Luncheon The annual officers luncheon of the Lakeland Park Women's club will be on Thursday, June 14 at noon at Branded Steak House. The time is getting short to make reservations with Sharon Gacek. The club has been very busy with many events, and has many more things on the agenda. The recent Spaghetti Dinner was very good and will most likely become an annual event. Because of the coming annual community picnic, the club will meet on Thursday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m., to com­ plete plans and form com­ mittees. Plans for the "Flea Market" on June 23 at the Community house were discussed at the May meeting. Further in­ formation on this event can be secured by calling Sharon Gacek. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All ladies of Lakeland Park and lakeland Shores are most cordially invited to come to club and participate in the many activities and enjoy the fellowship of friends and neigh­ bors Card Party At St. John's The Blessed Virgin Mary sodality of St. John the Baptist parish. Johnsburg is planning its annual luncheon and card party. The event will take place Wednesday. June 13. beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Johnsburg Community club hall Tickets will be available at the door. The altar of St. Patrick's church was decorated with palms and blue and white candelabra bouquets as Deborah Pintozzi approached the altar to exchange vows with Michael J. Cajthaml on June 2. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Pintozzi, 3717 W. High street, McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cajthaml, 1511 W. Sunnyside Beach drive, McHenry, are the groom's parents. Father Joseph Kulak of­ ficiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony, and Mrs. Jean Ludwig. organist, and Peter Bender, soloist, provided special music. The bride's chosen attire was a white chiffon sleeveless A- linegown. The dress featured a fitted bodice with a cape collar flowing from a graceful bateau neckline Her chapel length veil was secured by a headpiece of matching chiffon fashioned into three braids, with hand rolled chiffon flowers. Maid of honor was Donna Pintozzi. Attendants were Mary Meyer and Pam Wickenkamp, friends of the bride; Vikki Cajthaml, groom's sister-in-law; and Annette. Cathy, Maureen and Patti Pintozzi, sisters of the bride. Shannon Cajthaml, the groom's neice, was the flower girl. Attendants were beautifully gowned in dusty blue silesta jersey. A chiffon jacket with ruffled sleeves and peplum complimented the spaghetti straps and "V" neckline Matching hand rolled double roses adorned their heads and completed the picture. Doug Freund was the best man. Groomsmen were A1 and Tony Cajthaml, brothers of the groom; Anthony Pintozzi, Jr., bride's brother; Jon Meyer, brother-in-law of the bride; and Steve Himpleman, Harold (Buzz) Frett, and David Lawson, friends of the groom, and all from McHenry. Ushers were Kevin hudson and Chris Dixon, and Brandon Cajthaml, the groom's nephew, was the ring bearer. The motttf&pf th^. bride chose a long A-line jersey dress with a chiffon jacket. The bride is employed as a dental assistant in Crystal Lake, and the groom is self- employed as a sign painter. Both are graduates of McHenry Community high school Winners Decided In Pinochle Tournament Mary Becklinger and Ed­ ward Golan were winning partners of the pinochle tournament finals sponsored by McHenry county Senior Citizen's Meet and Eat program at the Marengo Walk- In site, May 31. Throughout the month of M*y, seniors were invited to participate in tourneys played at eight Meet and Eat sites located throughout the county, with playoffs narrowing down to three couples: Mary Becklinger and Edward Golan, the winning couple, who are from Marengo, and semi- finalists Erich Meier and Martha Reimer from Crystal Lake, and Larry Klye and Mildred Bond from Woodstock. This was the first of an an­ nual event in which trophies are awarded each of the champions individually as well as their home site. Special guests were Grace Latimer, president of the McHenry Unit senior group, and Stan Burlack, commander of American Legion Post No 491. Chris Lenz, Candy Dr. Donna Murphy, principal of Edgebrook school, pours the first glass of punch for the guest of honor, Mrs. Helen Creamer, at a tea honoring the popular teacher who is retiring at the end of a 26- year career. The tea was held at Edgebrook school before the fireplace gracing the entry hall. Flowers and gifts adorned the beautifully decorated table of spring green and yellow, with a cake shaped as an open book, depicting Helen's life as an educator. Dan DeRoche. assistant superintendent, presented the gifts to Mrs. Creamer with a p p r e c i a t i v e r e m a r k s representing the feeling of all. Approximately 50 guests were in attendance including the following retirees who were former teaching associates of the guest of honor: Alice Clark, Leta Clark, Mary Obenauf, Vera Ward, Stella Rortvet. Newcomers Club Hears About Couple's European Travels Strickland, Alice Lenz and Ginger Freund were initiated into the Junior group by the officers of the Juniors: Carol Mikosz. Dawn Latimer and Kathy Latimer, assisted by the Junior advisors, Marilyn Messer and Laurie Latimer. Ginger Freund was awarded a ten year pin for continous membership in the Junior group. Dottie Messer, Eleanor Miller and Dorothy Freund served and cooked the annual banquet. The Junior group meets every third Saturday of the month at the Post home from 1:30 p.m to 3 p.m. and make tray favors for the hospitalized veterans. Reser­ vations for each member should be made by June 12. A steak fry, a new summer family activity for Newcomers will be held in late August and will take the place of the club's picnic this year. Mrs. Eckstrom is also organizing a tennis group for the summer. Any club member who is in­ terested should sign up at Tuesday's meeting. The group is planning to meet at Petersen Park on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. A t t h e M a y N e w c o m e r s general meeting, the mem- l>ership voted to donate a portion of the proceeds from this year's Cutest Baby Contest to the McHenry area and Johnsburg rescue squads. The Cutest Baby contest, to be held during the week of Fiesta Days, is headed by Helen Borland and Sue Olson. Their committee includes Jan Sullivan, Helen Kerrigan, Elaine Landis, Sandy Young, and Marguerite Newman. Each of these meml>ers has volunteered to be the liason between the Newcomers club and each of the sponsoring businesses. To avoid any conflict of interest the children of members in the Newcomers club are not eligible. Sheila Aleckson, president, suggested that a salad luncheon take the place of the August general meeting. Mrs. Borland graciously donated the use of her home for his event. The scheduled date is Aug. 15. Babysitting will be available. The Newcomers Gourmet club will be having a group dinner on Friday, June 29. All regular and alternate couples are invited to an excursion to the Wedgwood Inn, a gourmet restaurant in Richmond. Reservations must be made with Nancy John, chairman of the Gourmet group. Babysitting co-op members are reminded to call Kathy Kucik this quarter to report hours used in the co-op. Only paid members of the Newcomers club are eligible to join the co-op. A new membership directory will be available at the up­ coming general meeting. The newly printed directory con­ tains a current list of the names and telephone numbers of all paid members. The club has shown tremendous growth this year and the directory will contain over fifty names. Members of the club, and all people who are new to the McHenry area, are encouraged to attend this meeting to receive the last newsletter that will be published until Sep­ tember. The June newsletter will contain a listing of all planned summer activities for the club members. At the last meeting, it was brought up that several members had babies, been sick or had a death in the family. After a short discussion, Helen Kerrigan volunteered to be the club's Sunshine Lady. If anyone hears that a member is hospitalized or has a loss, please contact Mrs. Jack (Helen) Kerrigan so that she can send an appropriate card. For further details on any club activity or information on joining the club, call Mrs. Joseph (Nancy) John, or come to any club meeting. « Senior Walk Meals are served Monday through Friday at the McHenry Walk-In Center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be made by 1:30 p.m. the day before at 385-8260. The menu for the week of June 11 through June 15 is as follows: June 11: Baked meatloaf, mashed potatoes, garden peas, bread and chocolate pudding. June 12: (Picnic!) Oven fried chicken, baked beans, fruit salad with marshmallows, bread, banana cake and milk. June 13: Spaghetti with meat sauce, spinach, French bread, melon and milk. June 14: Swiss steak in onion gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, bread, applesauce and milk. CHICKEN BARHECgE Father's Day, June 1$, the Huntley Lions club will toMd its annual chicken barbeque at the Huntley American Legion clubhouse, located oh the corner of Woodstock and Coral streets in downtown Huntley. The menu consists of bar- bequed chicken, home baked beans, baked potato, cole slaw, roll, butter and beverage. The men of the club prepaged the chicken over open barbeque pits using a special barbeque sauce prepared from a family recipe of Henry Marlow of Huntley. Homemade pies, prepared by the ladies of the club, will also be available.
