The rojects included trash emoval at the former Vulcan ravel pits, construction of an interpretive trail along with the production of a written trail guide, also at the former Vulcan pits, prairie restoration and site improvement at Queen Anne prairie, and the con­ struction of wildlife pens and cages for the county's wildlife rehabilitation program. This federal program, the United States Youth Conser­ vation corps, also requires an educational aspect. Par­ ticipants are paid for 30 hours work and receive 10 hours of environmental awareness, uncompensated. Part of the environmental awareness plan includes field trips. More than 10,000 runners are expected to compete in this year's race. ROTC Cadet Completes Basic Camp Training DALE R. LUNDIUS Cadet Dale R. Lundius, son of Mrs. Gloria Johnson, 4019 Lillian, McHenry, recently completed six weeks of training in fundamental military skills at the Army ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox, Ky. The basic camp is designed to give junior college graduated and college sophomores who have not taken ROTC courses the chance to enter the program. The camp also qualifies high school graduates for the ROTC program at any one of the nation's six military junior colleges. During the encampment, cadets received training in basic rifle marksmanship, military drill and ceremonies, communications and individual and small unit tactics. Lundius is a student at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. --"" HEART DONATIONS A total of $5,165.35 has been contributed to McHenry Heart fund in the form of memorial gifts during the last year, and not $546 as erroneously an­ nounced earlier by the Illinois Heart association.
