MCC Students Visit Europe MCC art instructor Ossie Rometo, center and 30 MCC students visited St. Mark's Square in Venice during their European summer tour. The heart of Venice, St. Mark's Square is the historic center of Venetian life. One student brought back photos of ornately arranged displays of pastries, another focused on religious art and a third on the sculptures of Michaelangelo. All three were part of a group of 30 McHenry County college students who spent 21 days in Europe recently expanding their horizons while studying art. The students were enrolled in a special 3-credit course "Contrasting Classical Art of Europe", taught by MCC Art instructor Ossie Rometo. "Each student kept a journal and recroded what they saw either in photographs, slides or drawings. They each also did a paper on their area of study," Rometo said. The group in cluded 19-year-olds, a 74-year- old and all ages in between. what the students had in common was that they all had studied some facet of art before the trip and a few of them had traveled in Europe previously. The group visited Paris, Versailles, the Chateau Region, Monaco and Nice, Pisa, Florence, Rome, Venice, Inn sbruck, Munich and Heidelberg. Rometo lectured in virtually every famous art museum along the way from the Louvre to the Sistine chapel and Medici libraries. "One of the highlights of the trip was a side visit to Pom peii," Rometo said. He prepared some ol. .the. trip, participants for the adventure before they left by drilling them on tourist phrases in Italian as they worked in his art classes last spring. The students were amazed by the differences in mannerism and temperament between the French and Italians. In ad dition to their art studies they found time to spend an evening touring Paris night life at the Place Pigalle where they saw the Moulin Rouge and also spent an evening at the Casino Royale in Monte Carlo, Rometo said. "They all agreed it was a huge success and when we discussed how we would have structured the trip differently we could not agree on what we Repentance is quite out of date, and beside, if a woman really repents, she has to go to a bad dressmaker, otherwise no one believes in her. -Oscar Wilde. AUGUST, 10, 1979 Dear Shy: Colleen's Question Wfcy Net Date The Doctor? Dear Colleen: My doctor called yesterday and asked me for a date. He's fairly young, single and good looking. I would like to go, but I feel funny about it. I don't want to change doctors because I trust the one I have. Any sug gestions? Doctor Shy I see nothing wrong with casual dating. Should the rela tionship develop into some thing important, then consider changing M.D.'s if it would make you feel better. You never know, it might turn out to be just what the doctor ordered.
