V W,.rf t'- >v"i Wonder Lake Anne Sowers 653-9549 Lakers Begin Club's Season Even though the winter snows have not yet begun to fall, the Lakers Snowmobile club is beginning its activities for the year. The season will begin with the annual beef and corn roast party on Sept. 15, beginning at 7 p.m. at the C&A Auto Body shop on Barnard Mill road. The officers, president, Hugh Glaves; vice-president, Raoul Pounds; secretary, Helen Pounds and treasurer, Jim Rachel,- are inviting all members and their guests to attend this event. TRIP TO THEATER The Young at Hearts met Wednesday, Sept. 5, welcoming back many of their members who had been vacationing. « Plans were made to attend a matinee performance and luncheon at the Shady Lane Playhouse sometime in Oc tober. Marie Robinson suggested getting in a few activities before the winter snows start to, fall. Mrs. Robinson said that the mem bers would at least have some pleasant memories to carry them through the winter! Desserts, which were greatly enjoyed, Were served by Louise Armentos, Alfred Wallberg, and San Winters. The next Young at Hearts meeting will be Sept. 19, at Christ the King church, beginning at 11 a.m. EARNS LAW DEGREE Mr. and Mrs. Maycen of Indian Ridge are very proud of their daughter, Dawn Pearson, and they certainly have every right to be. \ This summer Dawn com pleted courses at Kent IIT school of Law in Chicago. Dawn started out several years ago receiving her Education degree from Nor thwestern university and taught U.S. History at the high school level. Mrs. Maycen says that Dawn was always in terested in law and it lingered in the back of her mind, so that eventually she resumed courses at Kent IIT. She and her husband are now taking a well-deserved vacation in Nevada. In January, shewilfparticipate in graduation ceremonies at Kent IIT with very proud family members looking on. GARDEN CLUB "The Wonder Lake Garden club's August meeting and annual picnic was held at Glacial park, where members and their guests gathered for a buffet luncheon. This is one of the many "highlights" of the season with good friends, good conversation, and good food - an unbeatable combination! "The park is one of many beautiful conservation areas and the club members all want to return again for the autumn colors. Perhaps this idea may help other organizations in planning fall schedules too. "The next meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bobbi Fiali, 1012 N. Ridge road, McHenry. "Again, members most cordially invite anyone in terested in gardening to attend the meetings. "Mrs. B.
